  1. Ban 190-4published at 39 overs

    Shakib 76, Mahmudullah 74

Shakib has played two shots with aplomb today - the cut to backward point and the pull through mid-wicket. The latter brings another single as Adam Milne bends his back in search of that magical delivery. With 76 runs needed, there's just enough left to get for both Shakib and Mahmudullah to reach their centuries.

My 10p is with Bangladesh. I think what Williamson does is bowl his best bowlers from the Taff end until the end of the game. He has to have the best threat he can find from one end and that means Boult, Milne and Southee.

  3. Ban 187-4published at 38 overs

Up on the Bangladesh viewing balcony, some pace nervelessly while others stay rooted to the spot with their gaze focused on the middle. Mushfiqur, who is celebrating his 30th birthday today, jigs with nerves. Four singles taken off Mitchell Santner.

  4. Ban 183-4published at 37 overs

Perhaps Kane Williamson is listening to Vic? Adam Milne is indeed brought back into the attack and a bumper is top-edged over the keeper's head before a delicious, inswinging delivery almost cuts the batsman in half. He's making things happen with his extra pace.

Williamson has got to bring back his triumvirate of big men who can take wickets - Boult, Southee and Milne. You can't end up with either of the first two with overs left when the game ends.

  6. Ban 173-4published at 36 overs

    Target 266

Shakib cuts another couple past backward point. This is a doddle.

  7. Ban 169-4published at 35 overs

    Boult 8-0-25-0

This over spelt the end of Kane Williamson's bowling experiment. Shakib, as he likes to do, cuts Trent Boult for two to backward point to reduce the runs required to below 100.

Nine times out of 10 in an ODI it is about restricting. You win games in the field. That is where you prevent the opposition scoring and suppress a run-rate. You should strive to bowl dot balls as often as you can.

  9. Ban 163-4published at 34 overs

    Target 266

Mitchell Santner is clearly somebody who's getting better all the time. Each year of his ODI international career, he's taken more wickets and reduced his economy rate. How his team-mates need something special now. Three singles chipped from the target.

This pitch has lasted. It is a very different surface playing on this than New Zealand found against England.

    Shakib 64, Mahmudullah 59

Go, Tigers, Go, proclaims a handwritten sign in the ground. They are going through to the semi-finals if this continues (and providing England beat Australia, of course).

Trent Boult looks New Zealand's best bet for a wicket as one of his toe-crushing yorkers is dug out by Shakib. Here, by the way, is the moment Mahmudullah brought up his half-century. Note the lack of an over-the-top celebration. He's in the zone, and got a job to do.

A big over. When Wiliamson bowls his off spinners it is not so easy with the ball coming back into Mahmudullah who can hit with it.

  13. Ban 158-4published at 18:18 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Target 266

Kane Williamson's bowling isn't going to win this game for New Zealand. First he's smashed for an enormous six into the leg side by Mahmudullah and then belted back down the ground by Shakib. Bangladesh bossing this now.

The game has changed and turned on its head. It was inevitable there would be a recovery but this is brilliant from Bangladesh.

Williamson had two main choices. He could have carried on with his leading bowlers and bowl Boult and Southee out for another couple, with Milne and Santner joining the party to shut the game down. Instead he has chosen the route he has gone down.

It is a close match. You probably want to favour Bangladesh the way this partnership is developing. A couple of wickets and New Zealand will have control.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Mahmudullahpublished at 31 overs

    Ban 145-4

That's 18 ODI fifties for Mahmudullah. This could be a match-winning knock alongside Shakib's effort.

  16. Ban 143-4published at 30.5 overs

    Target 266

Trent Boult, who bowled very fast earlier in the innings and had a catch dropped off his bowling, is brought back as New Zealand try everything they can to make a breakthrough. A short ball is again terrifically pulled along the floor by the impressive Shakib. The way he gets over the bounce and rolls his wrist is a lesson in batsmanship.

  17. Ban 139-4published at 30 overs

    Shakib 55, Mahmudullah 47

Kane Williamson brings himself on for a bowl. He gets one to grip but the rest of the over is milked. Meanwhile, in the stands, a giant, fluffy tiger is being photographed by official Champions Trophy snappers. Why not?

Oh yes, and there's a delay while Shakib is treated for cramp in his hands. It's not a long-lasting worry though as he drives two through the off side. The boy can play.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Shakibpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Ban 133-4

Shakib brings up his 35th ODI half-century with a single and, in a nice piece of symmetry, it's also the 100 partnership off 107 balls. This is one of my favorite Shakib shots from today - Steve Smith-esque in its execution.

  20. Ban 132-4published at 28.5 overs

Adam Milne is steaming in - potentially trying too hard as he digs in a bouncer which sails over the batsman's head. It's called by the umpire. They're giving away runs with their indiscipline here.
