Eddy: Sri Lanka v Bangladesh final. Anyone?

Mark: All India have to do to make it very interesting is to lose a wicket every 20/25 runs or so.

  2. India 65-1published at 15 overs

    Dhawan 30, Kohli 21

Youngsters - in fact, cricketers of any age - watch and learn. Kohli punches a Morris half-volley past the bowler's right boot for four. Simplicty, elegance, not to mention glorious timing. It shows Kohli's mindset that, despite his side cruising towards a modest total here, he's then slightly miffed to miss out a delivery that is short and wide.

I cannot believe it went for six because it looked like he hardly made any effort.

I sense Kohli doesn't rate Phelukwayo too highly. I mean, that is a perfectly reasonable length ball on off stump. India's skipper, the pre-eminent one-day batsman of this era, drives on the up straight back over the poor bowler's head for six. Wonderful, wonderful cricket.

I'm surprised AB de Villers hasn't gone to Tahir yet. He's a wicket taking option and you need to go to him.

    India 50-1

A double bowling change for South Africa as Chris Morris replaces Rabada. And he almost strikes in his first over, Kohli pulling to fine leg, where Morne Morkel can't quite get his mitts on the ball as his dives forward. Even Inspector Gadget wouldn't have got to that.

  8. India 47-1published at 12 overs

    Target 192

We have a change: Andile Phelukwayo is into the attack in place of fellow seamer Morne Morkel. Dhawan, punching through cover for three past a diving Miller, and Kohli, clipping off his pads for two, are barely inconvenienced.

Here's a reminder of South Africa's only success so far. They need nine more of these if they are to pull off the most remarkable of wins...

You can see the South African fielders clapping in the slips. After such a calamitous performance with the bat, it's a big ask for them to come out and show some intensity.

Rabada really does have a beautifully smooth action; I'm looking forward to watching him in the Tests against England this summer. Into his sixth over now, he's on the money once again to Kohli but there's precious little lateral movement for even the world's top-ranked ODI bowler. Straying on to Dhawan's pads allows the left-hander to take three off the final two balls.

India probably wanted a few more after 10 overs but they have so much time to play with. They will be delighted that they're only one down. Kohli will just want to spend some time in the middle.

  12. India 37-1published at 10 overs

    Dhawan 22, Kohli 2

Lovely stuff from Dhawan, who leans into an off drive that evades the diving mid-off, then drives - uppishly - between cover and point. A chasing David Miller gets grazed elbows for his efforts as he fails to cut off the boundary. A Morkel no-ball gifts Dhawan a free hit, which is sliced over backward point for a couple. Expensive over for South Africa - 11 off it.

If India were in a position where they needed to chase 300 they would be looking to play it more.

  14. India 26-1published at 9 overs

    Target 192

Kohli shows the South Africans how to run. Nothing wrong with that from Rabada, but Kohli drops the ball wide of mid-off and scampers a quick single. That's as good to watch as a massive six, in my eyes. Two off the over.

Cliff Batt: When it doesn't matter, South Africa flatter. When there's something at stake, they flake.

  16. India 24-1published at 8 overs

    Dhawan 11, Kohli 1

Morkel keeps his packed off-side field busy with a wide half-volley that Dhawan lashes straight to short cover - a finger stinger. Dhawan plays and misses, with angled bat, off the final ball of the over. A maiden. Good from South Africa, tightening the screw.

  17. India 24-1published at 7 overs

    Target 192

Rabada has been steady if unspectacular so far, hammering away just outside off stump, but a smidge too short to draw Kohli forward. Kohli knows he can happily play out a maiden with no added pressure.

Quite why Rohit felt the need to play a shot like that when he's capable of perfectly orthodox strokes like this, I'm not sure.

Jack: You just can't comprehend any team, let alone India, not chasing such a modest target these days. That wicket might help though!

Richard Pettinger: Runs on the board? This is not going to be as easy as everyone seems to think.
