  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49.2 overs

Pradeep c and b Faheem 1 (SL 236 all out)

All done. The new boy Faheem goes short of a length and it finds a leading edge off the number 11's bat. Easy caught and bowled chance.

Easy work for Pakistan. Poor from Sri Lanka.

  2. SL 236-9published at 49 overs

    Hasan 10-0-3-43

So Hasan Ali has bowled his 10 for the match and has continued to impress on this tournament. Seven wickets for him now from the three games. He went for some against India but, as has nearly all the Pakistan team, he's turned it round in the next two games.

You can't really blame him for taking it on, but he didn't quite middle it. It still went quite a long way, but went very gently to the man at deep square leg. 250 looks a long way off now.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 48.1 overs

    Gunaratne c Fakhar b Hasan 27 (SL 232-9)

Another Hasan slower off-cutter fools Sri Lanka. Gunaratne pulls to deep square-leg but can't get it over the long boundary, instead finding the paws of Fakhar. Well bowled.

A score of 250 feels 30 runs below par.

  6. ouch!

    SL 232-8published at 48 overs

    Amir 10-0-53-2

Amir bangs it in short, Gunaratne turns away from the ball, he's looking the wrong way! It clonks him on the bonce and trickles away. Fiery from Amir, he's muttering away to himself.

He's bowled well today and picked up his first and second wicket of the tournament.

This partnership between Gunaratne and Malinga worth 19 off 23.

There seems to be disappointment from some TMS correspondents about the T20 squad selection and demands for refunds. In 20 years time when they're boring everyone with how they saw Crane and Livingstone destroy SA on debut, will they pay back any refund to ECB? Armchair selectors the lot of them.

Outrageous by Gunaratne. He leans back, his eyes focused well away from the ball and he just flicks it straight over the keeper and down to the boundary for four.

A direct hit from Hafeez earlier in the over and Sri Lanka would have been all done. They may well last the 50 overs yet.

  9. dropped catch

    Gunaratne droppedpublished at 46 overs

    SL 218-8 (Gunaratne 17, Malinga 3)

Come on, that's a dolly. A reverse flick from Gunaratne and the debutant Faheem at short fine leg drops a regulation catch.

Nevertheless, that's Junaid all done. He finishes with figures of 10-3-40-3.

South Africa coach Russell Domingo yesterday described it as a "cardinal sin" to not bat out the full 50 overs. It looks like Sri Lanka may commit the same offence.

Their hopes to see out the next four overs rely on Gunaratne and the guy with the most talked-about hair in cricket history.

Lakmal didn't know he was out because he didn't hear the death rattle. It was a well-disguised slower ball, Lakmal had more or less finished his stroke by the time the ball got there.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 44.3 overs

    Lakmal b Hasan 26 (SL 213-8)

Hasan strikes, just when Sri Lanka looked like they could edge towards a score which is just about defendable.

The slower ball does the trick as it goes through and brushes the bail. I didn't know it was out. Lakmal didn't know it was out. Lucky for us, Hasan pointed in the direction of the stumps just to let us know. Cheers, pal.

  12. SL 210-7published at 44 overs

    Gunaratne 25, Lakmal 15

I said nothing too spectacular but runs now for Sri Lanka against Mohammad Amir.

Gunaratne guides one down to fine leg and they run three. Then wham, middle of Lakmal's bat, down the ground for four and Amir does not like that. If looks could kill.

Sri Lanka fans have woken up. There's a whole band, trumpets, drums, the lot. Their team slowly crawling back into this.

  14. SL 200-7published at 43 overs

The 200 is up for Sri Lanka and you start to wonder how much they need to make a game of this.

Nothing overly spectacular from Gunaratne and Lakmal, aside from that previous Hasan over, but they have steadied the ship a little.

Sarfraz has got three overs of his strike bowlers left, so it's four overs of other stuff - spin, seam etc.

  16. SL 197-7published at 42 overs

Well hello there, a couple of boundaries for Sri Lanka. And not an iffy edge through the slips either, they were proper shots.

Hasan goes full trying to get that inswinger but it's right in the slot for Lakmal to drive down the ground. The second is even fuller and is slapped past the bowler's head.

    Ten from the over.

Let's check out that tremendous spell of bowling by Junaid and Amir. Game changers ...

    Perera caught by Babar

  18. SL 187-7published at 41 overs

These two at the crease seem to be handling Hasan better than they are Imad, who continues to be tidy, conceding just the two.

Umpire Bruce Oxenford signals a wide down the leg side but then almost instantly reverses his decision. That was the highlight of that over.

  19. SL 185-7published at 40 overs

Hasan kicks his heels as he sprints in with his game face firmly on.

Lakmal and Gunaratne do their best Miller and de Villiers impersonation with some dodgy running and equally dodgy calling between the wicket. They get away with it. One from the over.

  20. SL 184-7published at 39 overs

Sarfraz keeps one over from Junaid up his sleeve as Imad Wasim comes into the attack.

Imad, with his shades on, races through the over with his hop and a skip floaty slow-left-armers. Maiden.

Sri Lanka's approach now? Bat the full 50, I imagine.
