  1. Pak 99-3published at 17 overs

    Target 237

Thisara Perera has international hat-tricks to his name in both one-day and T20 cricket. One of those would do nicely for Sri Lanka now. Apparently, when he took his T20 hat-trick against India in 2016, he was so immersed in the match he didn't realise his achievement until he was told by his team-mates.

Shoaib Malik marks his arrival to the crease with a beautiful cover drive for four.

I think we have a game on our hands now, or at least some tension in this Pakistan innings.

    Hafeez c Pradeep b Perera 1 (Pak 95-3)

Pakistan lose another! Hafeez mis-times a lifting delivery and skies an easy catch to Pradeep at mid-on.

  4. Pak 94-2published at 16 overs

    Pradeep 5-0-30-2

Mohammad Hafeez joins Azhar Ali at the crease. Pakistan can't throw this one away? Surely not?

It's a wicket and another chance to put the pressure on the new batsman. They did pressurise Babar Azam by having seven men inside, and with a few dot balls. They will have to do the same with the next batsman.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.4 overs

    Azam c De Silva b Pradeep 10 (Pak 92-2)

Pradeep's not going to go down without a fight. He takes another wicket - this time when Babar Azam whips the ball to Dhananjaya de Silva at short mid-wicket. A shot which looks awful if it gets you out. A Kevin Pietersen-like dismissal.

At the moment, Pakistan are cruising. Fakhar played his own way, which is the right way for him. Sadly he got out but he's taken the worry about run-rate out of the equation.

    Pak 90-1

Pradeep has been really impressive in this tournament - he took 2-54 in a very good performance against South Africa. Thisara is not as quick and is easily milked for singles. Time for some drinks.

I think people have a right to be frustrated by England's T20 selection, the cheapest tickets for the Rose Bowl are £45. If I'd paid that to see England B I'd be gutted, it should have been clearer or scaled down accordingly.

  10. Pak 87-1published at 14 overs

    Target 237

Azhar Ali has slowed down in recent overs, but he's capable of this...

Sri Lanka are a little flat in the field now as Pakistan's most measured and classiest batsmen team up in the middle.

I can tell you that Pakistan will not leapfrog India, they had to reach their target in 10 overs for that to happen.

  12. Pak 80-1published at 13 overs

    Azhar 19, Babar 4

There's a touch of the Joe Roots about Babar Azam as he stands on his tiptoes and tries to force Thisara through the off side. The ball goes straight to the fielder, but the shot illustrates his ability.

In other news, the winners of this game will face England in the semi-final on Wednesday...

  13. Pak 78-1published at 12 overs

    Target 237

Another of Pakistan's exciting young batsmen strides out and pumps the ball to the boundary - Babar Azam cutting a wonderful four to the rope.

He is vulnerable to the short ball. He made two mistakes - firstly, hooking the ball on the front foot and secondly, trying to hook the ball into the wind.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.2 overs

    Fakhar c Gunaratne b Pradeep 50 (Pak 74-1)

An entertaining and decisive knock comes to an end. The left-handed Fakhar hooks a Pradeep bouncer straight to the safe hands of Gunaratne at backward square. Job done from Fakhar's point of view. He's put his side in firm control, and now it's over to the rest of his colleagues to ensure the semi-final spot against England.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Fakharpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 12 June 2017

    Pak 74-0

Fakhar brings up his maiden ODI half-century off 34 balls - cutting Gunaratne for four, then a single. A deft touch for a man who can also edge the ball for six...

  17. Pak 65-0published at 10 overs

    Target 237

Pakistan are on the charge here, swatting Sri Lanka aside. Suranga Lakmal is recalled but is helped around the corner for four by Fakhar. If Pakistan keep going like this then we'll be done in about 40 overs. Is this really the same side that was shellacked by India? How worried should England be?

That's a huge slog that's got straight over his head, the wicketkeeper's head and the sightscreen. They will need a bucket of balls soon.

  19. Pak 57-0published at 9 overs

Dive! Pradeep finds the edge of Fakhar's bat, the ball flies to slip but lands just in front of the fielder. If the waiting catcher had dived in front, it might have been a catch.

To make matters worse for Sri Lanka, Fakhar gets a big outside edge to Pradeep's length delivery and the ball sails over the keeper's head and goes for six.

  20. 6 runs

    Pak 44-0published at 8 overs

    Fakhar 24, Azhar 16

New balls please! Azhar Ali belts Thisara back over his head and out of the ground for six. Biiig shot! Fakhar weighs in with a baseball-stye swing across the line which bring four. This needs a wicket if it's not going to be a foregone conclusion.
