India's mindset was to think Pakistan's batting is a bit weak, but how wrong have they been? Pakistan have answered India superbly.
Kohli has introduced Kedar Jadhav, the man who sparked Bangladesh's collapse in the semi-final, into the attack. Here he is with that slingy action, the ball coming down so slowly that it gives the Pakistan batsmen plenty of time to think about their shots. Imagine Malinga bowling spin, then add a bit more of a sling to it, and you've got Jadhav's bowling action.
Sachin is watching on from one of the hospitality suites, wearing a genuinely terrible shirt. Yes, he's scored billions of run, but I'm not having that shirt. Sachin, by the looks of things, isn't having Kohli's field. He's gesticulating to his friend next to him, presumably showing where he would set the field.
That's the end of Hardik Pandya's spell today. He finishes with figures of 10-0-53-1, and the wicket was a pretty crucial one...
Babar 39, Malik 10
Short, wide, slapped for four by Babar, up on his toes to Hardik Pandya. And that's just as good! Quick hands and a slight turn of the wrist to swat the ball away from his stomach and down to the ropes. That's glorious.
Ramiz Raja
Former Pakistan captain on BBC Test Match Special
The good thing about Pakistan's selection is that they are not carrying too much baggage like teams of the past against India. These new players have not been scarred and are playing freely.
Babar 28, Shoaib 10
Jadeja's back to fire through another over, and Babar and Shoaib work him here and there for the singles. And that's six! A shimmy down the pitch from Shoaib and he hoists him into the ground and just over the head of an unfortunate steward, who had visions of taking a magnificent catch there.

The children in this orphanage in Lahore are enjoying watching the match.
Pandya 9-0-41-1
Shot! Strong wrists from Babar as he launches Hardik Pandya up and over mid-wicket. He's just building nicely here as we reached the final overs of the innings. Shoaib, at the non-strikers, practices his big hitting with a few wafts of the bat.

Seems Bollywood has shunned 70mm screens today and opted for cricket today. At least a dozen film stars tweeting frantically trying to 'comfort' rather stunned fans after a solid run-march from Pakistan.
Babar 18, Shoaib 2
Kohli is wafting his arms about in the manner of a man swatting at a fly. He's not in the best of spirits. Jasprit Bumrah is back into the attack and a low full toss is merrily clipped away by Babar Azam for four. That's not helped Kohli's mood. Just a quick word for Ravi Ashwin, who has finished his Champions Trophy with figures in this innings of 10-0-70-0. Four wides in there, too. Ouch.

Someone check for seismic activity at the fall of that Fakhar wicket. The roar really was enormous, The Oval an eruption, India fans both delirious and relieved. What a knock, though. One of the best in a world final?
Pandya 8-0-34-1
Fakhar hit 12 boundaries and three sixes in that 106-ball innings. Shoaib Malik has taken his place at the crease, and he gets his first run with a little guide down to third man. Babar has a flirt at an off stump delivery from Hardik Pandya and just avoids getting a feather edge through to Dhoni behind the sticks.

Fakhar just thought "I am going to have a go here today". That was a brilliant innings from the young man.
Fakhar c Jadeja b Pandya 114 (Pak 200-2)
Gone for 114! Another big swipe from Fakhar but the ball balloons up off a top edge. It's swirling in the air and Ravi Jadeja is back-pedaling. He's got to compose himself and he gets himself into a fine position to dismiss the Pakistan opener. Jadeja tears off in celebration but The Oval has risen as one to applaud Fakhar Zaman from the pitch. A superbly entertaining innings.

It's amazing how many people buy one of the hottest tickets in sport and then don't actually watch the action. On a lap of the ground I've seen one chap trying out the VR simulator, a couple dozing in deck chairs and, on the 1845 Terrace, a group sitting around a table as if they are in the back garden.
Fakhar 114, Babar 11
Ooh, that's less good from Fakhar, charging down the wicket and barely getting to the pitch of the ball. He gets it away for a couple, though, before a leisurely single brings up Pakistan's 200. Ashwin is still smarting from that six. Mind you, I would be. Ridiculous.

Fakhar Zaman is a hero here today and this is risky business from India.
That. Is. Massive! Fakhar has absolutely launched into one from Ashwin, down on one knee and hoisting him into the groundsman's area. Ashwin had just rearranged his field and tossed it up, for some reason, and Fakhar clobbered it away gratefully. That one is coming back with bits of cloud on it.

Where has Fakhar been! He has come into this Pakistan side at the age of 27 and is a breath of fresh air. What a time to pull out your first century.
