  1. Pak 150-1published at 26 overs

That's a beauty! Fakhar Zaman plays a massive shot high and long for a brilliant six off Jadeja. He follows up with a four and India's fielders are left scratching their head. Jadeja comes back with a tighter line but Fakhar hits another four mid-off off the last ball to bring up the 150 for Pakistan.

That's Pakistan cricket in a nutshell - a hundred partnership, then a comical run out.

Azhar run out 59 (Pak 128-1)

Azhar tries to take a quick single but there's a mix-up and he's run out. The batsman did not get a response from his partner though there was single to be had. That's the breakthrough India have been searching for.

Pakistan openers doing what they haven't done so far in this tournament-scoring runs! Whereas Indian openers have always fired for their team in all previous games. Day of reversals?

Azhar hits the ball sweetly to find the boundary for a four and then cuts one away for two runs.

  12. Belief spurs on Pakistanpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Khalid Karamat

A lot has been said about how Pakistan have turned themselves around in this tournament. When I spoke to Azhar Ali after Pakistan reached the final he told me that the team’s morale was really down after the loss to India in the group stages but the one thing that turned it around was the belief shown by the coaching staff in the team’s ability and that gave them the confidence to perform.

It seems to becoming like The Oval pitch of old - a batsman's dream. Even though Pakistan are 100-0, India are not looking animated in the field. They'll chase 450 on here.

  14. Pak 119-0published at 21 overs

Thanks, Amy. Pakistan have made a great start with both batsmen reaching their half centuries after a shaky start.

Fakhar's came up from 60 deliveries, Azhar's from 61. This is Pakistan's highest opening partnership against India outside of Asia. Remarkable.

And with that, I leave you with Shajan Miah for the next 10 overs.

50 for Fakharpublished at 20 overs

    Pak 114-0

Azhar Ali celebrates his half-century with a very tidy handshake with Fakhar Zaman. That's my kind of understated celebration. Oh, that's an awful bit of fielding from Yuvraj, and it's allowed Fakhar to get to his half-century!

  17. 50 runs

50 for Azharpublished at 19.5 overs

    Pak 110-0

Four! That's a vicious chop cut from Fakhar, picking up a wide ball and hammering it square to the boundary. Up in the dressing room coach Mickey Arthur, sipping on a fizzy drink, offers up a smile of appreciation to that shot. That brings Azhar Ali on strike, and he pushes a simple single to bring up his half-century!

Ibrahim Hoti:‏ The fact that India's bowlers have largely bowled in-line makes this opening partnership even more impressive.

Jon Rundle:‏ Good start! Group game was closer than it looked, with better batting application Pakistan could have won. India not all that!

  19. Pak 103-0published at 19 overs

    Pandya 3-0-13-0

Henrik Pandya continues and he tempts Fakhar into a cheeky little poke outside off stump. The ball just jags past the outside edge and batsman and bowler have a stare-down. Pandya wins. Ooft, a fumble at backward point from Ravi Jadeja allows Pakistan to steal a single and by the time Jadeja throws down the stumps, Fakhar is well home.
