    Middlesex 208-0 v Essex

They just keep on going at Lord's, much to the enjoyment of the members in attendance.

Sam Robson (118) and Nick Gubbins (81) have turned on cruise control, returned to their seats and poured themselves two big drinks.

Essex have well and truly ran out of ideas as Dan Lawrence comes on to bowl his leg breaks that have taken just three first-class wickets in their time.

    Worcestershire 188 v Northamptonshire (49.4 overs)

    Isabelle Duncan

    BBC Sport

A disastrous afternoon session for Worcestershire as seven wickets tumbled for only 96 runs.

First to go was Moeen Ali, who top scored on 50, and so began the rot as Andy Carter took 3-51, Nathan Buck 3-53 and Azharullah 2/35 by tea.

Carter clean bowled both Ali and Kohler-Cadmore, a turnaround for a man who attempted to retire from professional cricket last season, and John Hastings was left stranded on 20 as his team fell about him. All of this in the space of 21 overs.

    Martin Emmerson

There have been plenty of wickets over the years where Onions and Mustard have combined for Durham, but today for the first time we have Onions bowling to Mustard following the latter's move to Gloucestershire last season.

All of this prompts the obvious questions:

    1) Are there any other food combo's in cricket?

    2) And as Mustard plays against his 18th county we are wondering how many other players have managed that as well?

Century for Wesselspublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Nottinghamshire 274-7 v Sussex

What a fightback from Riki Wessels and Stuart Broad at Trent Bridge.

Wessels has lead the charge in fully-fledged one-day mode, reaching his century from just 89 balls, with 12 fours and three sixes.

Broad, who made 52 against former county Leicestershire earlier this season, is 44 not out off just 37 balls.

The duo have scored quickly to seize the ascendancy from Sussex, who previously had them 180-7.

  5. Derbyshire chipping awaypublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Kent 167-6 v Derbyshire (50 overs)

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Derbyshire's bowlers have continued to use the conditions at Canterbury to their advantage.

Luis Reece has bagged the prize wicket of in-form Kent skipper Sam Northeast, who was caught behind by Gary Wilson for 32.

And Derbyshire look a far different proposition at 167-6 than they did at 83-0 half an hour before lunch.

  6. Vince and Alsop making headwaypublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Hampshire 145-2 v Yorkshire

It's been a good half an hour for Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl, with the right-hand, left-hand combination of James Vince (73) and Tom Alsop (36) moving them on serenely at just over three runs per over.

Rilee Rossouw's finger injury came as a blow to Hampshire, but the opportunity to play Alsop, who impressed while away with England Lions over the winter, may be a blessing in disguise.

  7. Notts pair fight backpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Nottinghamshire 261-7 v Sussex (48 overs)

Batting is suddenly looking far easier at Trent Bridge, where Riki Wessels and Stuart Broad have put on 82 in 10 overs or so. Wessels has moved on to 94, while England pace bowler Broad has so far clattered an unbeaten 40 off 32 balls with a six and seven fours to help secure a second batting point.

Ian Westwood's century is even more impressive given the context of Warwickshire's start to the season.

His efforts, alongside Ian Bell (29), have seen them pass 200 for the loss of two wickets, thus earning a first batting point of the season in their third match.

  9. Mustard completes full setpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Gloucestershire 166-4 v Durham (49 overs)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Phil Mustard is playing against his former county for the first time since leaving Durham last summer. It's the 18th county he's now played against in a first-class career which began in 2002.

He came in after George Hankins edged Brydon Carse to Paul Collingwood at first slip on 27, ending a partnership of 59 with Will Tavare, who now has 50 to follow his 101 against Leicestershire last week.

  10. Contrasting styles for Somerset openerspublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Lancashire 109 v Somerset 16-0

Marcus Trescothick and Dean Elgar are very different types of openers.

Not many batsmen score at the speed of the former England opener, but Dean Elgar - a new addition to the Somerset ranks this season - is certainly at the opposite end of the scale.

The South African has one run from 18 balls, while Trescothick has 11 from 14. They're already on their way to Lancashire's meagre first-innings total.

    Thanks for that, Paul....

  11. Robson 'better than when he played Tests'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Middlesex 176-0 v Essex (47 overs)

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Having missed out on a hundred last week Sam Robson was determined to get there on his home ground.

On this evidence he looks a better player than when he was picked for England. His 19 boundaries have included some superb drives as the Essex bowlers pitched the ball up looking for elusive movement on a green pitch that has offered much less than it promised.

Neil Wagner provided the variation with short pitched bowling on a leg stump line but has so far not repeated his Taunton success. With Nick Gubbins playing a fine supporting role Essex would probably settle for a high scoring draw right now.

  12. 100 runs

Robson makes it a hat-trick of hundreds v Essexpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Middlesex 176-0 v Essex

What a hundred from Sam Robson, who reaches three figures for the third time in succession against Essex.

The 27-year-old's first ton of the County Championship season - and his 18th overall - comes in excellent time, from 140 balls and contained 19 fours.

There's plenty of competition for batting places in England's line-up at the moment, but if Robson, who hasn't played for England since 2014, can keep knocking on the door, who is to say he can't make a comeback.

Middlesex are all over Essex at Lord's.

    Warwickshire 191-2 v Surrey, Westwood 102*

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

    Ian WestwoodImage source, Getty Images

The value Ian Westwood has given to Warwickshire over the years has been illustrated by his return to the team here.

The Bears have been skittled out for less than 180 in three of their four innings while the former captain has been out injured.

But he's dominated the first days play at Edgbaston playing positively and confidently to reach the 16th first class century of his career off just 130 deliveries.

Surrey have continued to set attacking fields and have asked questions of the batsmen but only Tom Curran has been rewarded with two wickets.

Dearden reaches half-centurypublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Leicestershire 123-3 v Glamorgan (48 overs)

A proud moment for 19-year-old Harry Dearden, who progresses to his first half-century in Championship cricket with a boundary off Marchant de Lange.

It's the seventh of his 154-ball innings and he will benefit from having the experienced head of Mark Pettini at the other end as he tries to convert his good start into a three-figure score.

Lancashire have lost just one of their last 18 meetings with Somerset.

But Somerset are unbeaten in their last nine games away from home.

All that is irrelevant however, as Johnny seems to reckon the weather gods are on Lancashire's side. Much more important than stats.

  16. Divison Two round-uppublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

Will Tavare and George Hankins have batted with care after lunch for Gloucestershire against Durham at Bristol, advancing the score to 143-3, with tavare 38 not out and Hankins on 21.

Sam Northeast is trying to prevent a total Kent collapse against Derbyshire, having reached an unbeaten 23 in their 127-5, while Notts are struggling on 189-7 against Sussex, for whom Steve Magoffin has taken 5-44 so far.

Harry Dearden is closing on a fifty for Leicestershire, who are 111-3 against Glamorgan, while Worcestershire are pinning their hopes on Joe Clarke (31*) after three wickets by new recruit Andy Carter for Northants, who retired last summer, has reduced the home side to 141-6.

WICKET Livingstone (c Leach b Groenewald) 68published at 14:36 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Lancashire 109 v Somerset

The fun is over for Liam Livingstone. He went into overdrive as the tail collapsed around him, smashing a six and three fours with Jimmy Anderson at the other end before being caught by Jack Leach.

He scored a whopping 62% of his side's runs. Now can Somerset make a better fist of batting at Old Trafford?

Fifty for Vincepublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Hampshire 108-2 v Yorkshire

James Vince has reached fifty for the first time in the County Championship this season.

The stylish right-hander has been continually criticised for making pretty scores before getting out to expansive drives. But having benefited from a drop of that description he's batting well at the Ageas Bowl alongside the talented Tom Alsop (20).

  19. Kent on the back footpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Kent 122-5 v Derbyshire (39 overs)

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

When Kent's batsman took the field after lunch they had been rocked by the loss of four wickets within three overs and 15 minutes.

Derbyshire's bowlers have found their line and lengths, and curiously, seem to have a habit of bowling with more more venom in their second spell.

    Image caption,

Sam Northeast is the key man as Kent find themselves five wickets down.

Darren Stevens and Sam Northeast would have hoped to rebuid in this session, but Stevens has just fallen, caught and bowled by Tom Milnes for 17.

The visitors will now hope to quickly get a crack at the Kent tail, standing in their way is their captain Northeast, who has been doing OK of late. He's scored just the 188 unbeaten runs over two innings...

  20. Five-wicket haul for Magoffinpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

    Nottinghamshire 180-7 v Sussex

    Steve MagoffinImage source, Rex Features

Steve Magoffin is a very good bowler and he's back with a bang for Sussex at Trent Bridge.

The giant Australian has taken his fifth wicket of the day having James Pattinson caught behind by Ben Brown to take the away side towards the end of the innings.

Now into his 16th over he has figures of 5-40 with seven maidens. Very tidy indeed.
