Mark Stoneman's epic innings on debut comes to an end.

The Surrey opener nicks Chris Wright behind for a superb 165 off 267 balls.

The 29-year-old gets a standing ovation as he trudges off at The Oval.

  5. wicket

WICKET Coad (c Vince b Wheal) 4published at 17:24 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire

Yorkshire's first innings is all over for a below-par 273. I say below-par, but I guess you never know until the other side has batted.

Either way, not making 300 and with an inexperienced bowling line-up isn't looking too healthy.

Ben Coad is the last man to go, caught by James Vince off Brad Wheal.

Hampshire will have 15 overs to bat tonight.

  7. Surrey 300 uppublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Surrey 301-2 v Warwickshire

Warwickshire fans look away now. This post contains graphic content.

Surrey go past 300 with Mark Stoneman (157) and Kumar Sangakkara (37) looking untroubled.

Ian Bell elected to bowl first this morning. Shades of ex-England captain Nasser Hussain in Brisbane in 2002? The Aussies reached 364-2 on that day. Surrey aren't far behind.

  8. wicket

WICKET Shaw (lbw b Dawson) 3published at 17:14 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 266-9 v Hampshire

Yorkshire's first innings of the 2017 season is coming to a rapid close.

Josh Shaw is pinned in front by England spinner Liam Dawson and Hampshire have their ninth wicket.

  9. Leicestershire all outpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

Nottinghamshire spinner Samit Patel strikes, removing Gavin Griffiths, five balls after James Pattinson dismissed fellow Aussie Clint McKay for 33.

Pattinson finishes with 3-55 on debut.

  10. 'Northants looking to take complete control'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Northants 120-4 v Glamorgan 101

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Northamptonshire are now in the lead and have wickets in hand to try and take complete control of this game.

The skies have cleared as the day has gone on and with a good forecast over the next two days, Northants will be looking for a good first-innings lead. The second new ball is a long way away so a great chance for them here.

Alex Wakely talked about eliminating the soft dismissals earlier in the week but he's been very guilty here of just that - top-edging a pull.

It's his stand with Adam Rossington that has built a good platform, the Northants lower middle-order now need to take over.

  11. wicket

WICKET Vilas (c Wagner b Beard) 74published at 17:04 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Essex v Lancashire 268-9

The mightily impressive Aaron Beard has his third wicket of the innings as he sends Dane Vilas on his way.

The South African chips the 19-year-old paceman to Neil Wagner at mid-off.

Jimmy Anderson is the last man in.

  12. Kent's fault or Gloucestershire's quality?published at 17:02 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Kent 239-8 v Gloucestershire

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

When there's a debate between two opposing sides, you'll often find the answer lies right in the middle.

That's certainly the answer to 'why have Kent collapsed this afternoon?'

There's been some wonderful bowling from Liam Norwell (3-33), Craig Miles (2-62) and Graeme van Buuren (2-19), but also some poor judgement from batsmen like Joe Denly and Darren Stevens (who both had fifties) as well as Matt Coles (11), who probably should have rethought going for consecutive sixes with his team 224-7.

Kent would be happy with 275 now, Gloucestershire would love to be batting tonight.

  13. 150 runs

150 for Mark Stonemanpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Surrey 286-2 v Warwickshire

Surrey opener Mark Stoneman continues on his merry way at The Oval.

The debutant goes past 150 with his 23rd four.

Kumar Sangakkara is on 27 and Surrey look set for a mammoth first-innings total.

  14. wicket

WICKET Ballance (b Dawson) 120published at 16:58 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 258-8 v Hampshire

There's the breakthrough for Hampshire and it's the big wicket of Gary Ballance .

The Yorkshire skipper is bowled by Liam Dawson for a superb 120.

The game is in the balance again. Sorry.

  15. wicket

WICKET Parry (c Harmer b Wagner) 19published at 16:55 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Essex v Lancashire 264-8

Lancashire are eight down. Stephen Parry is caught by a diving Simon Harmer off former Red Rose man Neil Wagner.

Dane Vilas is still going along nicely on 70.

Kyle Jarvis comes to the crease.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Stuart BroadImage source, Rex Features

Leicestershire are fighting back superbly against Nottinghamshire at Grace Road - with Ben Raine (53) and Clint McKay (32) sharing an unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 78. The Foxes are 247-8.

Northants have lost their captain Alex Wakely for 36 - they're 96-4, but just five runs behind Glamorgan's first-innings score.

Kent are 229-8 against Gloucestershire with Middlesex loanee James Harris at the crease.

  17. 100 stand for Ballance & Pattersonpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 251-7 v Hampshire

Gary Ballance and Steven PattersonImage source, SW Pix

How often have we seen this over the last few seasons? Yorkshire's lower order are in the runs again.

Skipper Gary Ballance (118) and Steven Patterson (27) bring up their century stand for the eighth wicket.

Hampshire's hard work in the first two sessions is at risk of being undone at Headingley.

  18. Wakely and Rossington reach 50 standpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Northants 86-3 v Glamorgan 101

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Alex Wakely and Adam Rossington provided the first 50 stand of the season as Northants reached 86-3 at tea, just 15 behind Glamorgan.

Wakely was bowled by a Craig Meschede no-ball and dropped at slip next ball on 2 before making the most of his reprieve with some firmly-hit drives.

Marchant de Lange, Lukas Carey and Harry Podmore claimed a wicket each early on, with de Lange claiming the scalp of Ben Duckett for his first Championship wicket.

But Glamorgan's total of 101 was left looking even more inadequate as the sun came out and the batsmen got on top.

The players are now back out at Wantage Road.

  20. 6 runs

Stoneman opens shoulderspublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Surrey 256-2 v Warwickshire

My colleague Felix Keith mentioned it wasn't a day for the spinners earlier.

He had a fair point - Mark Stoneman launches Warwickshire's Jeetan Patel over the ropes for his first six to move to 135.

Surrey's 250 is also up and that's two batting bonus points.
