  1. wicket

WICKET Hodd (c Rossouw b Abbott) 0published at 14:31 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 132-6 v Hampshire

And another! Yorkshire reeling at home - not a sight you would have envisaged last season.

It's a first wicket for Kyle Abbott on his return to Hampshire, as he dismisses Andrew Hodd courtesy of a catch from fellow South African Rilee Rossouw.

  2. Gloucestershire peg Kent backpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Kent 134-3 v Gloucestershire

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

Just when you think Kent are really getting ahead, Gloucestershire find a way of pegging them back.

Joe Denly looked in great form, and looked set for a first day hundred after scoring his fifty quickly after lunch, but Liam Norwell, who has bowled beautifully on day one, sent him back to the pavillion for 62.

We're back to honours even, you would feel.

  3. wicket

WICKET Bresnan (b Edwards) 0published at 14:28 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 132-5 v Hampshire

Fidel Edwards is bowling with pace and plenty of aggression at Headingley and Tim Bresnan will be the first to tell you so as he returns to the dressing room.

The Yorkshire all-rounder had his stumps smashed by a searing yorker and Hampshire well and truly have their tails up.

  4. Third wicket for Broadpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Leicestershire 135-7 v Nottinghamshire

Stuart Broad is enjoying himself at Grace Road, removing Leicestershire skipper Mark Cosgrove for 57, via the gloves of wicketkeeper Chris Read, who now definitely has 1,000 first-class catches after some confusion earlier.

Notts into the Foxes' tail now.

  5. wicket

WICKET Croft (c Porter b Harmer) 48published at 14:22 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Essex v Lancashire 136-4

Lancashire captain Steven Croft falls just short of a first half-century of the season, leaving the middle order open for Essex.

However, the away side will be hopeful that new signing Dane Vilas can hold the fort with 42-year-old veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who stands at the other end after joining as a Kolpak for the season.

  6. wicket

WICKET Leaning (lbw Berg) 7published at 14:16 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 125-4 v Hampshire

Hampshire making inroads at Headingley after lunch. Jack Leaning  the man to go, pinned lbw by the medium-pace of Gareth Berg.

Tom Leaning (see 14:12 entry) I'm reserving judgement for the time-being... That's two sets of mockers in 30 minutes.

  7. Duckett opening for Northantspublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Northants 0-0 v Glamorgan 101

So, Glamorgan's troubles with the bat have given England batsman Ben Duckett an early chance to impress, as he comes out to open the batting with Rob Newton.

He'll be eager to show his talent after a difficult time of it against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Michael Laverton:  Keaton Jennings could have another big season if he can get in England team as well

Tom Leaning: This season seems to be a make or break one for Jack Leaning (no relation). How do you both predict his season will go?

Well, Leaning is unbeaten on seven for Yorkshire at the moment Tom. He's clearly got talent - just needs to push on, get more big scores and move that first-class average way north from it's current 32 and change.

  9. wicket

WICKET Burns (c Ambrose b Barker) 71published at 14:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Surrey 155-1 v Warwickshire

Warwickshire finally have a breakthrough! And it's the trusty left-arm swing of Keith Barker that's done the trick, seeing Rory Burns caught behind.

Fellow debutant Scott Borthwick joins former Durham colleague Mark Stoneman in the middle.

  10. Glamorgan's misery overpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Northants v Glamorgan 101

Glamorgan's sorry first innings has come to and end.

Aneurin Donald's 34 and some late swinging from Marchant de Lange (18) saw them into three figures, but they will be bitterly disappointed with their efforts.

Meanwhile, against a strong Nottinghamshire bowling line up its only Leicestershire captain Mark Cosgrove showing much resistance for , unbeaten on 50 after Ned Eckersley was trapped lbw by Stuart Broad.

  11. wicket

WICKET Handscomb (b Edwards) 25published at 14:00 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Yorkshire 110-3 v Hampshire

Australian international Peter Handscomb is bowled by West Indian quick Fidel Edwards, for his second wicket of the day.

Jack Leaning the new man to join captain Gary Ballance.

  12. Toil continues for Warwickshire's bowlerspublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Surrey 152-0 v Warwickshire

I don't wish to keep on reminding Ian Bell of his decision earlier this morning, but it seems I can conclusively say it was not the correct one.

Mark Stoneman and Rory Burns are continuing to make hay while the sun shines, touching gloves to celebrate their 150 partnership. The home crowd must be enjoying themselves in south London.

    Commentator's curse.

Straight after lunch and in front of Alastair Cook and James Anderson, England's bright young thing Haseeb Hameed has his stumps rearranged by Jamie Porter.

His innings of 103 balls, and six fours comes to an end.

    Thanks Gary.

It is certainly shaping up to be a eventful second session of the season - and in bright sunshine. We shouldn't be surprised by now, but Haseeb Hameed continues to impress. He's just three runs from a first fifty of the season.

Elsewhere in Division One there are four of the best batsman on show at The Oval and Headingley.

Let's see what's in store, shall we?

I'm going to now hand over to the only man I know from the Isle of Wight, Felix Keith, to take you through the afternoon session.

Can Warwickshire finally get a breakthrough? How many will young Haseeb Hameed get? How high will Fidel Edwards leap if he gets another wicket?

    Let's find out...

  20. Northants' seamers dominate Glamorganpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Northants v Glamorgan 84-8

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Northants' seamers completely dominated the opening session of the season, bowling accurate lines to reap rewards after Glamorgan decided to bat.

Nathan Buck, a new signing from Lancashire, made the most of his colleagues' early incursions with three quick wickets in the middle order.

Rory Kleinveldt took the first two and returned to dismiss Craig Meschede, who had added 41 with Aneurin Donald for the 7th wicket.

Donald counter-attacked briefly with 34 before falling tamely to Steven Crook, caught behind as he flashed at a wide one. The Welsh side will soon be out in the field.
