What a catch by Tim Bresnan!

Liam Dawson gets a leading edge and the big seamer leaps forward and just about gets his left-hand underneath it.

Dawson looks to the heavens but is on his way. You never, ever, write Yorkshire off.

Sean would no doubt like a few more images similar to this one - Essex opener Varun Chopra losing his off-stump to Ryan McLaren.

That's some prediction from BBC Northampton's cricket commentator Alex Winter, but it was certainly a bit of a shambles this afternoon from Gloucestershire.

  10. Hampshire now favourites? 78 neededpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 & 187 v Hampshire 141 & 242-4

Wow - Rilee Rossouw hits Tim Bresnan for back-to-back boundaries and Liam Dawson follows it up with two more fours at the start of Ben Coad's next over.

The target is suddenly down to 78. Dawson and Rossouw are looking magnificent.

  11. Warwickshire's lower-order resistingpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 255-6

Jonathan Trott (116) and Keith Barker's (27) seventh-wicket stand is now worth 74.

  13. wicket

WICKET Chopra (b McLaren) 29published at 16:58 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Essex 159 & 52-2 v Lancashire 319 & 317-3 dec

    Another one gone at Essex.

This time Varun Chopra is bowled by the skiddy Ryan McLaren.

Like his fellow opener Nick Browne, he got in and got out - not ideal when you're trying to bat four sessions to save the game.

  14. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

I really need to learn how to spell Rilee Rossouw. Apologies if any of the Rossouw family are reading.

  15. Less than 100 neededpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 & 187 v Hampshire 141 & 225-4

    Milestone at Headingley.

Hampshire are now just 95 shy of their 320 target with six wickets in hand.

Rilee Rossouw (35 not out) and Liam Dawson (17 not out) are looking composed, despite the now-gloomy conditions in Leeds.

  16. 'Probably the worst delivery of spell'published at 16:48 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

WICKET Browne (c Hameed b Parry) 18published at 16:44 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Essex 159 & 40-1 v Lancashire 319 & 317-3 dec

    There's one.

Lancashire spinner Stephen Parry, who did the damage in Essex's first innings, is at it again but it's an absolute gift.

Nick Browne  smacks a long-hop straight down the throat of Haseeb Hameed in the leg side after doing all the hard work to get a start.

The highly-rated Tom Westley comes to the crease needing to play one of the innings of his life.

  18. Kent make a huge statementpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kent 298 & 246 beat Gloucestershire 149 & 61 by 334 runs

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

It has been a remarkable day in Canterbury.

13 wickets would normally do you for two full days of County Championship cricket, but the members here were treated to it between lunch and tea today.

Kent bowler Darren Stevens' 6-22 was the highlight of Gloucestershire's meagre second-innings total, his coach Matt Walker just described the 40-year-old as "like a fine wine, getting better with age."

All the talk going into this opening match of the season was whether Kent were promotion contenders.

A 334-run win today, while not answering that question, heavily implies they could be.

No need to apologise, I'm the master of bad jokes.

Yorkshire get the new ball in six overs - they'd love another wicket before then.
