  1. wicket

WICKET Vilas (b Porter) 92published at 15:11 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Essex 159 v Lancashire 319 & 317-3d

There's no maiden County Championship hundred for Dane Vilas , who is bowled by Jamie Porter looking to get on with things.

The South African can still be very happy with his work - his runs in both innings have helped set up a massive lead of 477. A lead big enough to see captain Steven Croft declare with Alex Davies 140 not out.

Essex have four and a half sessions to see out. Jimmy Anderson will take the new ball. Good luck.

    WICKET Clarke (c Foakes b T Curran) 6published at 15:08 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 181-6

Tom Curran has another! I may have said something earlier about Warwickshire's lower order usually offering runs, but that is not the case today.

Rikki Clarke is the latest to go, edging Curran behind to Ben Foakes.

You would back Surrey to close this out from here. They have a lead of 182 runs with four wickets to get.

  3. Stevens rolling back the yearspublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kent 298 & 194-7 v Gloucestershire 149 & 32-7

Darren Stevens is enjoying himself. The 40-year-old has figures of 4-12 off his five overs so far as Gloucestershire do their best to get on the motorway early.

Take a look at him dismissing Phil Mustard below.

WICKET Ambrose (lbw b T Curran) 0published at 14:56 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 169-5

The pressure has told at The Oval, with the usually reliable run-getter Tim Ambrose falling for a duck to the bowling of the older Curran, Tom.

His 14-ball working over comes to an end and gives Surrey a hope of wrapping up a win today.

The Bears still trail by 194.

  5. 'An unbelievable session'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kent 298 & 246 v Gloucestershire 149 & 22-6

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

We have been witness to a scene of utter carnage since the lunch break.

Kent's second innings was ended with the sight of three wickets and 52 runs in a six over spell.

Now, Gloucestershire have had an extraordinary batting collapse as they chase 396 to win.

Bancroft, Dent, Tavare, Hankins, Mustard and van Buuren have all fallen within the first eight overs, and the visitors found themselves 18-6.

That's nine wickets in under an hour, and a rather plump lady is clearing her throat here at the Spitfire Ground.

  6. wicket

WICKET Adams (lbw b Rafiq) 72published at 14:52 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 & 187 v Hampshire 141 & 160-2

A change of bowling brings an immediate wicket for Yorkshire. Azeem Rafiq comes into the attack and Jimmy Adams is struck on the pad playing a lazy shot from the off-spinner's first ball.

A timely contribution from the veteran opener, who had been short of form.

New signing Rilee Rossouw comes to the crease.

  7. Lancashire weighing up their optionspublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Essex 159 v Lancashire 319 & 299-2

Lancashire are in a perfect position, with Essex right where they want them. Alex Davies and Dane Vilas are still out in the middle and have picked up the scoring to move their lead on to 459 runs.

It is now just a matter of time for a declaration.

  8. Gloucestershire collapse to 17-5published at 14:45 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kent 298 & 194-7 v Gloucestershire 149 & 17-5

You know how I said about 20 minutes ago that Gloucestershire had a mountain to climb? Well, it's looking a touch harder than that now.

Inside their first six overs they've lost half of their side. James Harris (3-6) and Darren Stevens (2-7) have done the damage, leaving the away side just five wickets away from a heavy defeat.

  9. 50 runs

Fifty for Jonathan Trottpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 159-4

For the 82nd time in his first class career Jonathan Trott moves past fifty.

This innings has been classic Trott too - it took him a long while to get going as the Curran brothers, Sam and Tom, kept things tight early on. But the gritty right-hander has done what he does best and stuck at it, hitting eight fours.

He's now the away side's great hope. The 35-year-old certainly has previous in these situations.

WICKET Hain (lbw b Dernbach) 3published at 14:35 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 154-4

Jade Dernbach strikes! It's new batsman Sam Hain who departs after being trapped in front by the tattooed seamer.

Warwickshire have historically benefitted from a strong tail and they'll sure need the best of Tim Ambrose, Keith Barker and Rikki Clark in this match now.

Still 209 runs behind, are the visitors.

  12. Down and out?published at 14:29 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Essex 159 v Lancashire 319 & 279-2

Ryan ten DoeschateImage source, Rex Features

Essex captain Ryan ten Doeschate's face says it all.

Lancashire, led by Alex Davies (129 not out) and Dane Vilas (68 not out), are now ahead by 439.

Declaration to come shortly I'd predict.

  13. Fifty partnership for Adams and Vincepublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 & 187 v Hampshire 141 & 147-1

Whisper it quietly but Hampshire are going about their business well at Headingley.

There have been a few play and misses from Jimmy Adams (67) and James Vince (32) - one ball from Steven Patterson nipped back and beat both Vince and wicketkeeper Andy Hodd - but they're still both there.

173 to win. Nine wickets left. Game on.

Footitt left red-facedpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 153-3

It's hot at The Oval. How do I know? Mark Footitt's face after taking the crucial wicket of Ian Bell.

    A lovely shade of beetroot.

  15. Gloucestershire begin their ascentpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kent 298 & 194-7 v Gloucestershire 149 & 2-0

It's fair to say Gloucestershire have a difficult task on their hands. Chris Dent and Cameron Bancroft are at the crease and beginning to climb their side's rather steep mountain.

Still, two runs down, 394 more needed.

  16. Watch Borthwick's stunning catchpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 140-3

Scott Borthwick now has five catches in the match.

This one to get Ian Bell was sublime...

  18. wicket

WICKET Bell (c Borthwick b Footitt) 64published at 14:12 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 140-3

It's that combination again! Surrey tweeted a video of Scott Borthwick practicing slip catches this morning before play. He didn't drop one.

Practice makes perfect. He's just taken a stunning catch at slip, diving way to his right to pouch the dangerous Ian Bell, giving Mark Footitt a seventh wicket in the match and Surrey a much-needed breakthrough.

  19. 50 runs

Fifty for Dane Vilaspublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Essex 159 v Lancashire 319 & 255-2

Another landmark for Lancashire, as Dane Vilas moves past fifty for the second time in the match on debut.

The South African scored 74 in the first innings and alongside Alex Davies he is now busy punishing Essex.

  20. Hampshire's targetpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 & 187 v Hampshire 141 & 128-1

There are 66 overs left in the day at Headingley. Hampshire need a further 192 runs to win the match, meaning a result could be on the cards.

That's if Jimmy Adams and James Vince and co can keep it ticking over at around three runs per over.

Adams has moved to 65, while Vince has his four boundaries in his 20.
