  1. Five-wicket haul for Norwellpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kent 298 & 134-7 v Gloucestershire 149

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Sport at Canterbury

Kent began the day on 118-4 and 267 runs ahead with Will Gidman on 7 and James Harris on 4.

Harris arrived last night as the nightwatchman and survived only four overs this morning before the on fire Liam Norwell had him caught behind by Colonel Mustard.

The old stager Darren Stevens then went for a duck, another victim of the pumped up Norwell.

A few moments later Adam Rouse was caught well at third slip without troubling the scorer. Norwell has taken eight so far in this match and reduced Kent to 134-7 with a 283 run lead.

  2. Leicestershire on the vergepublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Leicestershire 251 & 60-9 v Notts 329

Leicestershire are 60-9 at Grace Road, goodness me.

Skipper Mark Cosgrove's lone vigil is over as he slaps Luke Fletcher to Michael Lumb in the leg side and goes for 21.

The Foxes are still 18 behind.

Play up, Pompey!:  I hope the BBC will still pay @nickwebb2017, external for the two days' cricket he should have been commentating on at Wantage Road.

It's okay, I'm sure my fine colleagues in Wales will make sure he's fed and watered!

WICKET Mellor (c Sangakkara b Dernbach) 14published at 11:24 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 37-2

Warwickshire are two down in no time at all.

Alex Mellor is snaffled low down by former wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara, now fielding at first slip off Jade Dernbach.

Skipper Ian Bell joins Jonathan Trott in the middle - the Bears will need them to stay there for most of the day you feel.

    Aaron BeardImage source, Rex Features

Essex are finding out just how tough life in Division One can be.

Lancashire's lead is creeping up towards 300 with almost a full two days ahead.

Youngsters Alex Davies (55) and Liam Livingstone (21) are ticking along nicely for Lancashire this morning with their second-wicket stand nearing 50.

Dropped catchpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 & 187 v Hampshire 141 & 17-0

You have to catch those Adam.

Tim Bresnan finds the edge of Hampshire opener Jimmy Adams, but Adam Lyth puts down a simple chance in the slips.

You need a bit of luck chasing 320 and there it is.

  9. Leicestershire fall to 54-8published at 11:14 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Leicestershire 251 & 54-8 v Notts 329

Is there anything decent to do in Leicester on a Sunday afternoon?

Leicestershire are now eight down - Zak Chappell is caught behind off James Pattinson for nought.

The Aussie has 4-23 and his dream debut continues.

  10. wicket

WICKET Porterfield (lbw b S Curran) 19published at 11:10 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 35-1

Nope - it doesn't look like it's going to be any easier for Warwickshire today.

Will Porterfield is pinned lbw by Surrey teenager Sam Curran in just the second over.

Disastrous start for the visitors, as Jonathan Trott strolls to the middle looking to avoid a pair.

  11. A quieter day at The Oval?published at 11:07 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 33-0

Warwickshire will be hoping so. After 17 wickets fell on day two, Warwickshire's second innings has got off to a much better start.

William Porterfield and Alex Mellor are at the crease, but their task is daunting.

The Bears still trail Surrey by 330.

  12. Early wicket for Nottspublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Leicestershire 251 & 52-7 v Notts 329

Oh dear, we could have a very early finish at Grace Road.

Nottinghamshire paceman James Pattinson finds Gavin Griffiths' edge with just the fourth ball of the day and it's taken by Greg Smith in the slips.

Leicestershire are still behind by 26 with just three wickets remaining.

Yesterday we saw more five-wicket hauls than you could shake a stick at.

With that in mind, it brings me nicely onto today's Get Involved topic.

What's the best spell of fast bowling you've ever witnessed?

Steve Harmison's 7-12 in the West Indies immediately springs to mind. Perhaps you want to go even further back.

I'm sad to say, I'm not quite old enough to remember Michael Holding and Joel Garner steaming in for the West Indies.

Doesn't the Spitfire Ground look a picture this morning?

It's a day for parasols, sunglasses, and if, like me, you have what could be described as an 'extended forehead', plenty of factor 50 on the old noggin.

    Canterbury Day 3

With a lead of 267, Kent will be hoping they can wrap this match up today.

Get another 100 runs in this first session, and they could be bowling at Gloucestershire's fragile batting line-up by the afternoon.

I'm not sure James Anderson has taken those shades off since Friday!

The England man can relax this morning though - it's the Lancashire batsmen's turn to set a big target for Essex.

Alex Davies and Liam Livingstone will resume batting for the Red Rose county shortly with the lead already at 274.
