Worcestershire need a bit of luck here to break this partnership.

I'm not old enough to have watched Vanburn Holder in his playing days, but I do remember him as an umpire who used to smoke a fantastic looking pipe, but also had one of those deadly slow fingers when giving out leg before shouts.

First one straight down the ground past the bowler and then a pull shot from an attempted slower ball.

Brings up his 50 off the last ball with a single and he's got there off just 37 balls with eight fours and a six.

Nice way to get yourself back into form...

Daryl Mitchell into the attack for Worcestershire with his medium pacers after just the one over from Josh Tongue.

A full toss from his last ball gets punished by Mark Stoneman through the off side for four after a wide earlier on from Mitchell.

Joe Leach continues into a fourth over for Worcestershire but Jason Roy continues to pierce the offside with some lovely strokes off his back foot.

He nearly gets in a tangle the next ball with an attempted pull, but it falls safely into a space on the leg side despite going in the air.

Bowling change for Worcestershire sees the young seamer Josh Tongue into the attack.

Bit off target with a wide and then Jason Roy flicks him for four through square leg and gives him the same treatment through mid-wicket the next ball.

Bit of a baptism of fire for Tongue but he finishes the over with a couple of better balls just short of a length. Surrey still motoring along though.

John Hastings' second over begins with a couple of fours to Mark Stoneman before a huge leg before appeal from a ball that keeps low and nips back.

Not really sure what that was missing to be honest, but it says umpire's call on the television replays as the ball clipped the top of the bails.

Another promising over for Surrey with nine runs from it.

Roy off the mark with a single into the legside from an inside edge before Hastings errs with a couple of wides down leg to Roy's opening partner Mark Stoneman.

Stoneman crashes the first boundary of the game over point and it's also a no-ball from Hastings and the left-hander takes full advantage from the following free hit with another four through mid-on.
