All the shots coming out now from Jason Roy as Surrey bring up their 100.

A couple of reverse sweeps off Daryl Mitchell bring consecutive fours and he's up into the 60s already.

Worcestershire need a bit of luck here to break this partnership.

  2. Surrey 98-0published at 12 overs

    Roy 54, Stoneman 38

I'm not old enough to have watched Vanburn Holder in his playing days, but I do remember him as an umpire who used to smoke a fantastic looking pipe, but also had one of those deadly slow fingers when giving out leg before shouts.

Great to hear his voice on the radio today.

Moeen Ali meanwhile is into the action with the ball for Worcestershire. Tidy start from the England man with just four runs from his first over.

Coach Chambers: Nice to see Jason Roy getting some runs for Surrey after a lean spell. Sure Worcester are chuffed about that!

  4. Surrey 94-0published at 11 overs

    Roy 52, Stoneman 36

Second over from Daryl Mitchell is a neat one conceding just three singles. Surrey still looking well set here as Vanburn Holder was just saying...

  5. Roy motoring alongpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 17 June 2017

    Surrey 91-0 (Roy 50, Stoneman 34)

Jason Roy clearly seizing the moment to get back into the runs today after his Champions Trophy struggles with England.

He's made a promising start today with 50 already. A cracking six on a cracking day for batting has helped the England one-day opener to his landmark in 37 balls.

This shot earlier on looked effortless.

  6. 'Can see Surrey getting a big score'published at 11:46 British Summer Time 17 June 2017

    Vanburn Holder
Ex Worcestershire and West Indies all-rounder plus former umpire on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I can Surrey getting a very big score here, probably 320 or 330 perhaps more.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Jason Roypublished at 10 overs

    Surrey 91-0 (Roy 50, Stoneman 34)

Super batting this from Jason Roy with consecutive fours off Joe Leach.

First one straight down the ground past the bowler and then a pull shot from an attempted slower ball.

Brings up his 50 off the last ball with a single and he's got there off just 37 balls with eight fours and a six.

Nice way to get yourself back into form...

  8. Surrey 79-0published at 9 overs

    Roy 39, Stoneman 34

Daryl Mitchell into the attack for Worcestershire with his medium pacers after just the one over from Josh Tongue.

A full toss from his last ball gets punished by Mark Stoneman through the off side for four after a wide earlier on from Mitchell.

  9. Surrey 71-0published at 8 overs

    Roy 38, Stoneman 28

Joe Leach continues into a fourth over for Worcestershire but Jason Roy continues to pierce the offside with some lovely strokes off his back foot.

He nearly gets in a tangle the next ball with an attempted pull, but it falls safely into a space on the leg side despite going in the air.

  11. Surrey 64-0published at 7 overs

    Roy 32, Stoneman 27

Bowling change for Worcestershire sees the young seamer Josh Tongue into the attack.

Bit off target with a wide and then Jason Roy flicks him for four through square leg and gives him the same treatment through mid-wicket the next ball.

Bit of a baptism of fire for Tongue but he finishes the over with a couple of better balls just short of a length. Surrey still motoring along though.

  12. 'A belting surface'published at 11:26 British Summer Time 17 June 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

Surrey are flying along here. Worcester have offered just too much width on a belting surface and Jason Roy is looking in fine form today.

  13. Surrey 53-0published at 6 overs

    Roy 23, Stoneman 26

It's 50 up for Surrey as Jason Roy cracks a lovely drive off his back foot through the covers.

Again just the one boundary in the over off Joe Leach's bowling.

  14. Surrey 49-0published at 5 overs

    Roy 19, Stoneman 26

Surrey keep on motoring and John Hastings' first three overs have cost him 34 runs.

Not a great start to his day. Surrey going at almost 10-an-over inside the first five overs.

First six of the day!published at 4.4 overs

    Surrey 46-0

There's our first maximum of the day and what an exquisite shot that is from Jason Roy!

It's just a flick off his legs from John Hastings, no more than that.

    Pure timing!

  16. Surrey 37-0published at 4 overs

    Roy 12, Stoneman 20

Jason Roy on a mission clearly after his disappointing form of late with England. Advances down the pitch to Joe Leach and smashes a straight four back past the bowler.

Just that boundary off the over though which will encourage Worcestershire.

  17. Surrey 32-0published at 3 overs

    Roy 8, Stoneman 20

John Hastings' second over begins with a couple of fours to Mark Stoneman before a huge leg before appeal from a ball that keeps low and nips back.

Not really sure what that was missing to be honest, but it says umpire's call on the television replays as the ball clipped the top of the bails.

Another promising over for Surrey with nine runs from it.

  18. Surrey 23-0published at 2 overs

    Roy 8, Stoneman 11

Worcestershire captain Joe Leach opens up from the other end with the ball.

Steady start from the right-armer but Jason Roy pushes him for four off the back foot through mid-wicket.

Roy's in the side today after being released from England duty after the Champions Trophy, but he's also a straight replacement for the unfortunate Scott Borthwick who was injured in the warm-up...

  19. Surrey 13-0published at 1 over

    Roy 1, Stoneman 8

Australia's John Hastings to England's Jason Roy for most of that opening over.

Roy off the mark with a single into the legside from an inside edge before Hastings errs with a couple of wides down leg to Roy's opening partner Mark Stoneman.

Stoneman crashes the first boundary of the game over point and it's also a no-ball from Hastings and the left-hander takes full advantage from the following free hit with another four through mid-on.

    Promising start for Surrey.
