  1. Eng 36-2published at 10 overs

    Beaumont 13, Knight 3

Off-spinner Kasperek is looking busy, scurrying around to prevent a single off her own bowling.

That's the end of the first 10 overs. New Zealand will definitely be the happier.

Two wickets, including the big one of Sarah Taylor.

  2. Eng 33-2published at 9.1 overs

    Knight 2, Beaumont 11

Good from Beaumont. Another four, this time an excellent drive off the back foot through the covers.

The opener is putting the pressure back on the New Zealand bowlers.

  3. Eng 29-2published at 9 overs

    Beaumont 7, Knight 2

Lea Tahulu is back into the attack. Does New Zealand captain Suzie Bates sense this is a chance to make serious inroads into England's powerful batting line-up?

Shot! Opener Tammy Beaumont has made a quiet start but Tahuhu over pitches and Beaumont drives square for four. That flew to the rope.

It's good opening with spin because it makes the batters do something.

  5. Eng 23-2published at 8 overs

No need for England to panic. Heather Knight, who has a century to her name in this tournament, is the next batter in.

The England skipper makes a watchful start after the loss of those two early wickets. Here's the first of them. What a catch!

    WICKETpublished at 7.1 overs

    Taylor c&b Kasperek 8 (Eng 22-1)

Oh what a horrible way to get out.

Sarah Taylor takes a step down the wicket and drives but tamely chips the ball back into the hands of Leigh Kasperek.

Taylor gone early. Big for New Zealand.

  7. Eng 22-1published at 7 overs

    Beaumont 2, Taylor 8

First change of bowling of the day as another seamer Holly Huddleston comes into the attack.

No change in the flow. Huddleston keeps her line straight just like Tahulu before her and despite Beaumont taking a step down the pitch the England opener can only play defensively.

There's a stifled appeal on the final ball of the over as Beaumont is hit on the pad but it looked to be going down the leg-side.

    Phil Long
    TMS statistician

Before this game, Sarah Taylor had scored 289 runs off 249 balls in the tournament at an average of 72.25. She has hit 46 fours.

  9. Eng 21-1published at 6 overs

    Beaumont 2, Taylor 7

Tammy Beaumont is struggling to get the ball away here early on, - she has just one from her first nine balls.

She's clearly eager to get going. The batter knocks the ball to mid-on and races through for a single.

Taylor is looking more comfortable against Kasperek's off-spin, getting down on one leg and sweeping to keep the runs ticking over.

This is how Sarah Taylor rolls - she comes in against one of the fastest bowlers in the world and off the mark with a boundary.

  11. Eng 18-1published at 5 overs

    Beaumont 1, Taylor 5

The wicket brings Sarah Taylor to the crease, the leading run-scorer in the competition.

She is clearly in great touch as she knocks a beautiful on-drive for four off just her second delivery.

Sharp running to steal a single at the end of the over, too. Good stuff.

It went very swiftly. The reactions of Amy Satterthwaite there... she had to have cat-like reflexes.

Wow! What a catch. That was unbelievable - that was rocketing. That is how Lea Tahuhu gets her wickets. I'm blown away by how good that catch was.

    Winfield c Satterthwaite b Tahuhu 11 (Eng 13-1)

    Commentator's curse strikes!

Lea Tahuhu strays a little wide and Lauren Winfield cuts behind square.

I initially thought the ball was going to the rope but Amy Satterthwaite pulls off a brilliant catch in the gully, diving to her left to take the ball behind her.

  15. Eng 13-0published at 4 overs

Rachel Priest is very vocal behind the stumps for New Zealand.

"Catch," she screams as a drive goes uppish back towards the bowler Kasperek but drops short. "Nice, Kasper," Priest adds.

Lauren Winfield looks in nice touch though as she drives a second boundary.

  16. Eng 6-0published at 3 overs

    Winfield 5, Beaumont 0

Lea Tahuhu realises short on this pitch against these two England openers is not the way forward and keeps the ball well pitched up for the rest of the over.

Just a single conceded after that boundary.

  17. Eng 5-0published at 2.1 overs

First sign of aggression from England.

Lauren Winfield rocks back and uses Lea Tahuhu's pace to pull her to the boundary for four.

It's valuable when you've got a spinner who can come on in the powerplay and keep it tight.

  19. Eng 1-0published at 2 overs

Lydia Greenway asked how soon we'd see spin and the answer is the second over as Leigh Kasperek skips in with some off-spin.

Five dots start the over before England get their first runs on the board courtesy of a wide.

The seventh ball of the over is blocked by Tammy Beaumont. Tight stuff from New Zealand.
