    SA 125-3

Nearly two in two! Marizanne Kapp bunts her first ball back to the bowler, Knight gets her hands to it and she can't hold on.

I don't think Heather Knight has bowled herself enough in this tournament. England needed that breakthrough. These two were hanging around too long for my liking.

    Wolvaardt b Knight 66 (SA 125-3)

Gone! Captain Heather Knight into the attack, and as Wolvaardt tries to force her through the leg side, the "you miss, I hit" approach works and the opener is bowled middle stump.

I described Knight as a "partnership-breaker" a couple of overs ago - that's a bit of a disservice, as she's a better bowler than that - but once again she's made the breakthrough.

I'm never entirely sure what to make of "score predictors", but the one on screen suggests South Africa could be looking at a score in the region of 243 if they continue at this rate. (I suspect they may have just followed the "double the score at 30 overs" maxim, and added another one so it looks like a computer's done it).

Another tight over from Shrubsole, just three overs from it, but this has been a largely chanceless batting display from South Africa.

There's a buzz about the ground but also a tension that this third-wicket stand is looking dangerous.

Here's a fluent cut shot from Mignon du Preez, which brought her four against Anya Shrubsole:

  7. SA 121-2published at 30 overs

After seven overs from Hartley, England turn back to Natalie Sciver's medium pace, and Wolvaardt blasts a couple of fours back past the bowler. All along the ground, mind you, having given Hartley that caught-and-bowled chance earlier. The batters grab an illicit drink from the 12th man between overs.

  8. SA 111-2published at 29 overs

    Wolvaardt 55, Du Preez 32

Six bowlers used by England today, Alison Mitchell on TMS wonders if the captain will have a bowl? Off-spinner Heather Knight has been a more than useful partnership-breaker in the past - indeed, she was the second highest wicket-taker in the whole of the ICC Women's Championship which preceded this tournament.

However, it's still Shrubsole for her sixth over, keeping it full and straight and yielding just two singles. The Proteas have reached Nelson - 111 - and I can imagine the old umpire David Shepherd, who played on this ground for Gloucestershire for so many years, looking down with pride as he hops from foot to foot.

It's an interesting position for both teams. South Africa in the last few overs have just looked to up the run rate.

Laura Wolvaardt must love playing against England - she's made three half-centuries against them now.

    And here is today's 50...

  11. SA 109-2published at 28 overs

    Hartley 7-0-30-0

As Charlotte Edwards suggests, England persist with spin from the Pavilion End, but it's still Alex Hartley for now. Mignon du Preez shapes as if to play a reverse sweep to the vacant third man area, but can't connect and the ball zips into Sarah Taylor's gloves as if drawn there by a magnet. Just three singles from the over.

Du Preez likes facing spin and she's played it particularly well. I'd keep a few overs of Hartley up my sleeve. It might be England rotates the quicker bowlers from the top end and the spinners from the Pavilion End.

  13. SA 106-2published at 27 overs

Captain Knight rotates her bowlers - and turns to the pace of Anya Shrubsole for another burst from the Ashley Down Road End, but Du Preez cuts her first ball for four. Sarah Taylor is up to the stumps, with Shrubsole tossing the odd slower ball into the mix, while Du Preez moves across the stumps well to guide a single to leg. She has 29 from 39.

There are reserve days for both these semi-finals, but the sun's shining and hopefully we won't be using them.

Here's another boundary from Laura Wolvaardt, pulling left-arm spinner Alex Hartley back over her head for four.

  16. SA 101-2published at 26 overs

    Wolvaardt 53, Du Preez 24

Thanks, Amy - a superb opening spell from you. England could do with a wicket... Hartley spins down her sixth over, Wolvaardt brings up the fifty partnership and three figures for the team total in quick succession. Du Preez, busy at the crease, rotates the strike well.

If South Africa are going to put a score of 250+ on the board, Laura Wolvaardt will have a crucial role to play now.

50 for Wolvaardtpublished at 25 overs

    SA 97-2

Laura Wolvaardt aims two big slaps down the ground off Jenny Gunn, and she can't connect with either of them. She gets third one away to the boundary, a slower delivery from Gunn, and Wolvaardt is sightly deceived by the change of pace. That tonk back beyond the bowler brings up her half-century from 81 deliveries.

I texted Heather Knight the other day and told her she'd probably saved 20 runs in the field. You never get told that as captain, particularly if you don't score any runs yourself. It's nice to get a pat on the back and be noticed.
