I made my international debut at 16, I was doing my GCSEs at the time and it was such a relief to go and play for England because I'd been under so much stress for my schoolwork and exams. So I can imagine it's a great relief for Woolvaardt [who's 18] to be out there playing for South Africa.

    Brunt 3-0-16-0

Flash of the hands from Laura Wolvaardt, and the delivery from Brunt goes flying through the slips and away to the boundary. Brunt has a mid-over chat with Alex Hartley and fires down a cracker of a yorker, and Wolvaardt does well to jab her bat down on it.

How good is DRS? Thinking back to the 2013 World Cup and how many lbws were given...

It has indeed! The umpire has to change his decision, as that ball was swinging past the stumps. I'm not entirely sure Lee thought that - I think she thought she'd got the toe-end of the bat on the ball.

    On we go.

Man, that swung from Shrubsole. It's struck Lee low down on the pad - has it done too much?

This is the first match South Africa have had with DRS, as their game with New Zealand - when they were supposed to have had it - was washed out.

Ooh, hello, Lizelle Lee has been given out lbw to Anya Shrubsole! She doesn't like the decision, though, and she's made the T-sign instantly.

Here's that first ball of the day which Laura Wolvaardt hit for four.

  9. SA 13-0published at 3 overs

That's a cracking drive from Laura Wolvaardt, playing on the up and rolling her wrists nicely as she laces Brunt through the covers for a couple. This is a better over from Brunt, a fuller length, and she draws Wolvaardt into a cheeky little waft outside off stump.

I think we could see something special from this opening pair if they can last through the first few overs.

  11. SA 10-0published at 2 over

Here's Anya Shrubsole, and that's much better from the seamer. Lizelle Lee plays across her pads as she tries to tap Shrubsole over the keeper's head, but she makes a real meal of the shot and the ball ends up sticking in the turf as South Africa snaffle a single. That's the only run from the over as Shrubsole keeps Laura Wolvaardt quiet.

That was a poor ball to start the game with - a leg stump full toss. Laura Wolvaardt will pull that every time. England will also have learned from playing against her in the last game that she loves a cover drive.

  13. SA 9-0published at 1 over

And that's four from the first delivery! A big ol' full toss from Brunt and Wolvaardt's eyes light up as she clips it off her legs and away to the boundary. Brunt responds with a big lbw shout that takes a good chunk of the bat on its way through, before the batter slides another few runs through mid-wicket. Not the tidiest over, this, as Brunt goes way down the leg side for a wide.

No surprises from England - it's Katherine Brunt to open the bowling, with Laura Wolvaardt in her sights.

Captains! Want some advice on how to relax away from the game?

Take a leaf out of Heather Knight's book - some video bloopers from your last match, reign supreme at a "busy" pub quiz and a bike ride around the nearest city.

The sounds of the White Stripes then goes blazing out across the ground as the players leave the field for a last minute huddle.

South Africa have absolutely nothing to lose. Just hearing about the pride Dane van Niekerk feels for the girls, they're so pleased with this opportunity.

But the atmosphere is very exciting - Bristol have pulled out all the stops and I've been buzzing from about 4am.
