ECB director of women's cricket Clare Connor: "This crowd haven't moved a muscle. Their support of this final has been immense. The teams couldn't have put on a better game of cricket. Both teams deserve such credit.

"India looked dangerous. I couldn't be prouder of the team and how this tournament has gone. Hopefully we have attracted some new fans for the women's game. For me, this beats me winning the Ashes. This is the best moment I've been involved with."

  3. 'I never thought the dream would come true'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 23 July 2017

England match winner Anya Shrubsole: "I am lost for words. One of the great things about this team is we never give up. It is a fitting final of what was a brilliant World Cup.

"There was a huge amount of pressure. We never let the run rate get away and we knew if we got a couple then we would be in the game. It is a dream. I never thought it would come true. To be back here as a World Cup winner is amazing."

I started out covering England women in the 2013-14 Ashes series. I worried at one point that, as the women's game grew, England were going to start getting left behind. That Ashes loss in 2015 actually came at the right time for them. They've regrouped, got stronger, got more powerful, and it's resulted in a World Cup.

  6. 'I thought about taking Anya off!'published at 17:54 British Summer Time 23 July 2017

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

England captain Heather Knight on Test Match Special: "What a game. I'm so proud of those girls. They've really fought hard and that's all I've asked of them. Anya Shrubsole, to win us a game, under huge pressure - it's amazing. India batted brilliantly, they made it really hard for us. We knew if we took it deep, we had the bowling, and if we could hold our nerves. I thought about taking Anya off and I'm really glad I kept her on!

"It's been an extraordinary game. At times I had to punch myself and concentrate on the game. The noise when we got the last wicket was a really special moment. Anya Shrubsole, what a hero. To win with some of my best mates, I'm absolutely delighted."

Before the match, Anya Shrubsole's dad posted this photograph of a young Anya at Lord's, dreaming of playing in a World Cup final for her country.

She's taken six wickets on her way to helping England lift the World Cup. What a day for her.

This England team have gone through some big changes since Mark Robinson took over. Getting rid of Charlotte Edwards was a big gamble and could have gone either way. But England have grown so much under a new captain and a new coach. The fitness is improved, the power hitting is there where it wasn't before, and this is the result of all that hard work.

I can't even begin to describe the noise that went across Lord's when that final wicket fell. That is a brilliant win from England. They were in it, out of it, and then they dragged themselves, kicking and screaming, back into the game, to claim the World Cup.

    Take a bow, ladies.
