  • Notts posted 190-4, Bears replied with 168-8

  1. Notts Outlaws 56-2published at 6 overs

    Wood 2-0-17-2

The end of the powerplay, and honours just about even.

Riki Wessels is scoring quickly and Brendan Taylor is off the mark with a delightful clip off his legs, but Hampshire will be pleased to have sent Alex Hales back to the dugout fairly cheaply.

Chris Wood has both Notts wickets to fall so far.

    Notts Outlaws 49-2

Chris Wood with his second wicket of the Notts innings and the Outlaws are 49-2 at the end of the fifth over.

Another smart catch at short third man, this time from Kyle Abbott, removes Tom Moores for a duck.

  3. Notts Outlaws 49-1published at 4.4 overs

    Wessels 33, Moores 0

Riki Wessels fancies this today - he hits the second six of his innings straight back over bowler Chris Wood's head. Wessels is 33 not out off 19 balls.

  4. Notts Outlaws 36-1published at 4 overs

    Wessels 20, Moores 0

One thing Notts don't lack is batting power. Tom Moores is at the crease with Riki Wessels, with Brendan Taylor, Samit Patel, Steven Mullaney and Dan Christian still to come.

Kyle Abbott the bowler of the fourth over. Wessels hits a four and a six behind square on the leg side, just over the head of Michael Carberry, to keep the scoreboard motoring.

  5. Hales on the movepublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

That's a big, big wicket. Hales was moving around a lot in the crease and just did a bit too much, he was too far to the leg-side. That came at a very catchable height.

  6. wicket

WICKET Hales (c Afridi b Wood) 15published at 2.3 overs

    Notts Outlaws 23-1

Alex Hales is gone! The Notts opener tries to carve another one through point but it's slightly edged and straight to Shahid Afridi at gully.

    A big wicket for Hampshire.

  7. Notts Outlaws 23-0published at 2.2 overs

Notts opener Alex Hales passes 500 runs in this season's T20 Blast. Apparently more than 400 of those have come in the powerplay overs.

Before this innings, he had the highest strike rate of any batsman to have faced more than 50 balls in this season's T20 Blast.

  8. 6 runs

Notts Outlaws 20-0published at 2 overs

    Wessels 7, Hales 13

Gareth Berg into the Hampshire attack, and almost snares the key wicket.

Alex Hales miscues a pull shot and the ball comes down with snow on it, but it lands a few yards away from James Vince.

Hales doesn't get it wrong for long - over the leg-side boundary for six, then a boundary carved through point.

  9. Notts Outlaws 7-0published at 1 over

    Wessels 6, Hales 1

Left-arm spinner Liam Dawson to open the bowling for Hampshire - with Alex Hales and Riki Wessels batting, an attempt to take the pace off the ball and make it harder to get away?

That's certainly the plan, and it's almost worked. Only two runs off the first five balls, but then captain James Vince's wayward throw goes for four overthrows to spoil the over.

  10. 'Outlaws are hitting form at the right time'published at 14:29 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on Test Match Special on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I'm going for the (Notts) Outlaws. I think they will do the treble this year. This team is quality and they are hitting form at the right time and finding their feet in all three forms of the game.

This is a great opportunity for them and they have a lot of bowlers and batsmen in form. They are a force to be reckoned with and they have to take this opportunity.

I'm being very well looked after by the Edgbaston catering team, you'll be pleased to know.

There are even massages going on in the back room. All above board though.

You'd better eat it quickly, Gary. The players are out on the field and we're about to get going!

  12. Which team am I playing for?published at 14:27 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

Hampshire v Notts Outlaws (14:30 BST)

This could be a momentous day for Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry.

On loan at Leicestershire for the remainder of the County Championship, he is back for a one-off appearance for the county where he has spent most of his career.

Could it be his last for the county? That decision has yet to be made, but he is out of contract at the end of the summer.

The left-hander scored 211 runs in seven games to help the 2010 and 2012 winners reach Finals Day and he would love to see them lift the trophy for a third time.

It's incredible to think that a county with the limited-overs pedigree of Nottinghamshire is yet to win England's domestic T20 competition.

England opener Alex Hales scored a record-breaking 187 not out when Notts won the One-Day Cup in July, and the Outlaws are hoping to complete the limited-overs double at Edgbaston today.

We'll be seeing Hales opening the batting shortly.

There was only one star of Hampshire's quarter-final win over Derbyshire....

Shahid Afridi's 42-ball century left Derbyshire chasing an improbable target of 250 to reach Finals Day and the hosts fell well short.

This is the seventh time in eight seasons that Hampshire have appeared at Finals Day.

  16. 'We've been good at sticking to our plan'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

Hampshire v Notts Outlaws (14:30 BST)

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Notts Outlaws captain Dan Christian tells BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "We weren't fussed either way - we've bowled well when we've bowled first and we have also chased well.

"Hopefully we get off to a good start and can defend it. We have to just stay as calm as we have been all year. We have been good at sticking to our plan and hopefully we can perform."

England bowler Stuart Broad was available for Notts, but they have decided against picking him and are unchanged from the side that beat Somerset by five wickets in the quarter-final.

"Unfortunately for Stu Broad, we have left him out and gone for the team we have had all year," added Christian.

  17. 'Notts have some very dangerous players'published at 14:17 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Hampshire captain James Vince tells BBC Radio 5 live sports extra about his decision to bowl first in the second semi-final against Notts Outlaws:

"I didn't mind either way I know Notts like to chase, we will go at them hard with the ball.

"They have some very dangerous players as we have. We have to just give it our best and try to chase down what they post."

Now all that fun is over, let's hear from both captains on their thoughts after the toss for our second semi-final...

In the mascot derby it's a second win in two years for Alfred the Gorilla, of Gloucestershire.

Middlesex's Pinkie the Panther comes second, with Vinny the Viking third.

Alfred celebrated in style last year (see picture), I'm sure he'll be chuffed to bits once more.

Meanwhile, onto more serious matters, Hampshire captain James Vince has won the toss for the second semi-final against Notts Outlaws - and chosen to bowl first.

Both sides are unchanged from their quarter-final victories, which means no place for England bowler Stuart Broad - now that's a surprise!

Notts Outlaws: Wessels, Hales, Moores, Taylor, Christian (c), Patel, Mullaney, Root, Sodhi, Ball, Gurney.
