  • Notts posted 190-4, Bears replied with 168-8

  1. 6 runs

    Hampshire 34-1 - target 170published at 4 overs

    Vince 27, Dickinson 7

The bowling changes continue and here's bearded Aussie Dan Christian. He almost has a second wicket for Notts as a slight miscue by James Vince just clears mid-on and runs away for four. The next one is slower and Vince swivels to pick up another boundary to backward square.

The best is still to come, though, as Vince launches the next one for the first six of the innings. The over costs 16 and Notts need to get rid of Vince soon.

  2. Hampshire 17-1 - target 170published at 3 overs

One over only for Samit Patel. England seam bowler Jake Ball takes up the attack for Notts and his first delivery rips past the outside edge of James Vince's bat. The second, though, is cracked on the up through extra cover for four.

Calvin Dickinson backs away to leg later in the over and is fortunate as the ball just misses off stump, but he manages to jab the next one down to backward point for a single.

One for Vince to mid-on ends the over and he'll keep the strike. With Shahid Afridi already gone, his contribution is surely going to be key for Hampshire.

  3. Hampshire 11-1 - target 170published at 2 overs

Paceman Harry Gurney has the ball at the other end, bowling round the wicket, so two left-armers first up for Notts. A slower ball deceives Calvin Dickinson who swishes at thin air. The youngster then attempts a pull but the ball goes nowhere off the toe-end of the bat. Just four off the over.

  4. Hampshire 7-1 - target 170published at 1 overs

James Vince's penchant for the cover drive got him into trouble during his Test career. But that's exquisite as he strokes Samit Patel away for the first boundary of Hampshire's innings.

But how will they react to the first-ball dismissal of Shahid Afridi?

First ball? Come on, Shahid. I know it's T20 cricket and you're there to get on with it, but come on.

What on earth! Samit Patel sends down an innocuous delivery and Shahid Afridi obligingly picks out deep mid-wicket. Shocker for Hampshire.

    Notts Outlaws 169-7 v Hampshire

There has been debate about whether quarter-final hero Shahid Afridi would open the batting. The debate is over. Yes he is. Calvin Dickinson is his partner. This will be a test of nerve for the youngster. Samit Patel to bowl the first over.

  8. Gough backs Hants to dazzlepublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

So, semi-final job half-done by Hampshire.

Before the start of play at Edgbaston, former England bowler Darren Gough backed James Vince's side for glory.

Let's see whether their batsmen justify the Dazzler's confidence.

    Notts Outlaws 169-7 (20 overs) v Hampshire

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Notts batsman Alex Hales: "I think we'd have taken that at the toss. I think we batted well, now it's up to us to bowl well and put them under some pressure. I feel we have got a par score."

  12. 'The wicket is a little bit slow'published at 15:47 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts Outlaws 169-7 (20 overs) v Hampshire

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson: "The wicket is a little bit on the slow side, but if you play strong shots it goes to the boundary quickly.

"It's a semi-final, there's a lot of pressure on us. Hopefully we can get through the powerplay and see where we end up. It's a lot of fun - and it'll be even better if we can get over the line."

    Notts Outlaws 169-7 (20 overs)

We'll have some player reaction to the Notts innings shortly, and there's about a 10-minute break until Hampshire will begin their run chase.

    Notts Outlaws 169-7 (20 overs)

That innings was all about Hampshire's spinners, who dragged their side back into the contest after Alex Hales (briefly) and Riki Wessels had got Notts off to a flying start.

Mason Crane and Shahid Afridi controlled the run rate and have given their batsmen a reasonable total to chase.

  15. End of innings: Notts Outlaws 169-7published at 20 overs

A very good final over from Gareth Berg, packed with yorker-length and full deliveries, but it yields nine runs.

And that takes Notts Outlaws to what looks a competitive total.

  16. Notts struggling for 'par'published at 15:39 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

As we said after the first match, 175 is about par. You have got to make the most of those first six overs because when the spinners come on, it's harder to rotate the strike and find the boundaries.

  17. Notts Outlaws 160-7published at 19 overs

    Sodhi 9, Root 8

One over of the Notts Outlaws innings to go. Gareth Berg to bowl it.

  18. 6 runs

Notts Outlaws 157-7published at 18.3 overs

Just what the doctor ordered from Ish Sodhi.

He may not be a recognised batsman, as James Taylor has just suggested, but he can biff shots over mid-wicket for six, as he's just demonstrated off Kyle Abbott.

  19. Mullaney 'can be destructive'published at 15:33 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

That's a big blow for Notts because that's the last of their recognised batsmen. Ish Sodhi isn't renowned as a batsman and Mullaney can be so destructive at this stage of an innings.
