    Lancashire v Birmingham 53-2 (7 overs)

Two wickets in the over for Josh Poysden. This is the big one of Liam Livingstone who had made a brilliant start making 39 from just 28 balls with two big sixes.

All eyes on Jos Buttler now with Lancashire needing to win.

  2. wicket

The 50 is up for Lancashire but they've lost their first wicket. It's a bit of a long hop from Josh Poysden but Jordan Clark picks out Jeetan Patel.

It won't get any easier for Birmingham Bears. Out strides Jos Buttler...

  3. An 'absolutely incredible' droppublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Sussex 46-0 (5.1 overs) v Essex

    Chris Adams
Former Sussex captain on BBC Sussex

It was absolutely incredible to watch that.

It was the easiest catch. It just landed a yard away from his feet.

In his defence, I don’t know who the fielder is, he’s looking directly into the sun.

  4. Sussex off to a flierpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Sussex 46-0 (5.1 overs) v Essex

    Luke WrightImage source, Rex Features

Great start for Sussex and openers Luke Wright and Chris Nash at Hove.

The Sharks are already ticking over at more than eight-an-over and Nash has been spared by a bizarre drop in the outfield.

Essex fielders struggling with the setting sun on the south coast as well as their line and lengths.

  5. Derbyshire lose early wicketspublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Derbyshire v Worcestershire 20-2 (4 overs)

Worcestershire Rapids are one of just two teams in the North Group who can't qualify for the last eight but it seems they're going to do their best to upset the side's at the top of the table.

Mitchell Santner and George Scrimshaw have a wicket apiece against Derbyshire with Matt Critchley and Luis Reece back in the hutch.

Those wickets have checked the Falcons start. Just the 20 runs from the opening four overs.

    Kent v Surrey 46-1 (4.2 overs)

Breakthrough for Kent after a rapid start at the top of the Surrey order by Jason Roy and Aaron Finch.

Finch is bowled by Adam Milne and then the very next ball, the New Zealand seamer picks up Moises Henriques first ball with a ripper that traps him leg before.

Two in two balls for the Spitfires.

  8. rain stops play

Still raining in Cardiffpublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

Glamorgan v Middlesex - start delayed by rain

No news as yet of when they'll get going in Cardiff. Rain is still around and the covers are still firmly on.

Both sides will want to get out there for different reasons. Glamorgan can secure a home quarter-final tie while 2008 champions Middlesex will hope to sneak into the top four.

  9. 6 runs

Massive six from Livingstonepublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

HUGE. Livingstone clears the stands at Old Trafford. Stand and deliver stuff. He has 31 from 17. What a start!

  10. 6 runs

Quick start for Lancashirepublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Lancashire v Birmingham 26-0 (3 over)

Lancashire are off to a flier.

They need to win and Liam Livingstone is doing a fine job at the top of the order. He smashes a huge six into the Old Trafford stands off Olly Stone a ball after crunching the ball for four. The England international has 22 of his side's 26 runs and has a strike rate up over 150.

  11. Early scalp for Dawsonpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Hampshire v Somerset 10-1 (2.1 overs)

Dickinson catches DaviesImage source, Rex Features

England all-rounder Liam Dawson gets an early breakthrough for Hampshire as they bid to secure a home quarter-final.

Steven Davies falls for Somerset, who themselves could qualify with a win, as wicketkeeper Calvin Dickinson grabs the outside edge from the left-hander.

  12. Ronchi falls earlypublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Leicestershire v Notts 15-1 (2 overs)

Leicestershire have it tough tonight against the North group leaders Notts Outlaws and they've lost their overseas opener.

Luke Ronchi has been dismissed for two by Harry Gurney with Alex Hales taking the catch.

A reminder the Foxes start fifth, level on 15 points with Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Birmingham Bears.

  13. Livingstone starts with a boundarypublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Lancashire v Birmingham 6-0 (1 over)

Perfect start for Lancashire Lightning who need to win tonight as Liam Livingstone guides the first ball for a four down to third man.

The Birmingham Bears line-up is probably the most interesting out of any of these matches tonight.

They have dropped captain Ian Bell for this crucial match with Grant Elliott in charge.

  14. Essex win toss and bowl firstpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Sussex 5-0 (0.4 overs) v Essex

Under way at Hove in the South Group match between Sussex and Essex.

The winner of that contest could reach the last eight depending on results elsewhere.

Essex have won the toss and elected to bowl first, but Chris Nash has already found the boundary in Mohammed Amir's opening over.

Don't forget we'll have in-game video highlights of this match throughout the evening.

  15. 6 runs

First six of the nightpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

    Kent v Surrey 7-0 (0.4 overs)

Aaron Finch and Surrey are not hanging around in their winner-takes-all match at Canterbury.

Surrey won the toss and elected to bat and the Australia international has got himself off the mark with a six off his first ball.

    Imran Qayyum the unfortunate bowler..

Rain, rain stay awaypublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 18 August 2017

Aside from who needs to win and rely on someone else losing, there's another factor that might come into the equation this evening.....

    The Great British weather.

Showers are around in various parts of the country and may play a part in delaying the start of a few games.

    Fingers crossed conditions change there.

"Now pay attention men!" as Captain Mainwaring used to say in Dad's Army - there's a lot of potential outcomes in the South Group this evening.

We'll be testing your memory later....

    • First-placed Glamorgan can top the South Group with a win against Middlesex and guarantee a home quarter-final
    • Fifth-placed Middlesex can reach the last eight with a win and if they better Kent's result
    • Second-placed Hampshire can book a home quarter-final with a win against Somerset
    • Seventh-placed Somerset could reach the quarter-finals with a win, but will need to better results for Sussex, Middlesex and Kent
    • The winner of fourth-placed Kent against third-placed Surrey at Canterbury will book themselves a place in the quarter-finals
    • Both sixth-placed Sussex or eighth-placed Essex could reach the quarter-finals with a win at Hove, but will have to rely on results elsewhere this evening to finish in the top four.

As things stand in the North group, Notts Outlaws are the only team to have guaranteed qualification.

Yorkshire, who have played all of their matches, are currently second but that may well change tonight as five teams have a chance to overtake them.

    • First-placed Notts - Qualified. Home quarter-final guaranteed
    • Second-placed Yorkshire - Need two of Derbyshire, Birmingam or Leicestershire to lose.
    • Third-placed Derbyshire - Need a point v Worcestershire to virtually qualify
    • Fourth-placed Birmingham - Need a point v Lancashire to virtually qualify
    • Fifth-placed Leicestershire - Need a point v Notts to virtually qualify
    • Sixth-placed Northamptonshire (the defending champions of course) - Need big win v Durhamto increase net run-rate and overhaul Derbyshire, Birmingham or Leicestershire
    • Seventh-placed Lancashire - Need to win v Birmingham and hope two of Derbyshire, Northants and Leicestershire lose.
    • Eighth-placed Worcestershire - Out, play Derbyshire
    • Ninth-placed Durham - Out, play Northamptonshire
