One down, eight to go for Worcestershire.

    Somerset 236 & 93-3 v Middlesex 142

The odd balls are misbehaving but it wouldn’t surprise me at all when Middlesex bat a second time to see Marcus Trescothick down on his knees at second slip again because the ball just isn’t bouncing

WICKET Adams (b Sidebottom) 3published at 16:08 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 v Hampshire 8-2

This relegation scrap is going to go down to the wire with all three of Hampshire, Middlesex and Somerset!

The visitors lose their second wicket as Ryan Sidebottom bowls Jimmy Adams at Edgbaston.

If Hampshire can makes at least 350 runs in their first innings against Warwickshire they will secure their Division One status, regardless of the result at Taunton, but that is not looking like a simple task at the moment!

A draw is also good enough.

James Hildreth makes batting look so easy at times.

The 33-year-old moves to 38 with a beautiful clip through mid-wicket for four.

Somerset's lead is 180 - they may have enough already on a turning pitch.

  12. wicket

WICKET Alsop (lbw Sidebottom) 3published at 15:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 v Hampshire 5-1

Hampshire lose an early wicket as Tom Alsop is trapped lbw by Australian seamer Ryan Sidebottom.

The visitors need to make at least 350 runs inside 110 overs of their first innings to secure their Division One status.

A draw will also do the job no matter how many runs they score.

  13. Postpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Worcestershire 335 v Durham 0-0

Keaton Jennings and Cameron Steel come to the crease for Durham.

Jennings is playing his final game for the county - the England batsman announced he is joining Lancashire next season, earlier today.

Nine wickets for Worcestershire inside 110 overs seals their promotion.

  14. Kent take slender first-innings leadpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Kent 302 & 6-0 v Glamorgan 229

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Kent's first-innings advantage of 73 was fewer than looked likely this morning as Glamorgan's lower order fought their way up from 65-5 to 229 all out.

Chris Cooke with 49, Craig Meschede with 44 and Ruaidhri Smith with 36 all made useful runs without matching the decisive knock of Joe Denly, who made 152 on day one.

Callum Haggett took 3-40 in an accurate display of seam bowling under cloudy skies, while there were two wickets apiece for the pacy Adam Milne, the wily Darren Stevens and newcomer Grant Stewart.

But Glamorgan did not have enough wickets in hand to benefit from the easing of conditions in the afternoon.

  15. 'Durham desperate for good news'published at 15:51 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Worcestershire 335 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

The hosts have managed to gain three of the six points they need for promotion at New Road, with every run eagerly applauded by the home faithful.

They were eventually out for 335 with Ed Barnard's dismissal bring tea. He made a career-best 75 before he was bowled by Mark Wood, who in doing so got his first wicket of the game.

Barnard and Ravichandran Ashwin added 86 for the seventh wicket with Ashwin making 82 before he fell lbw to give debutant Liam Trevaskis his first wicket in first-class cricket.

Graham Onions finished with 4-68 in his final game for Durham before he heads off for a two-year contract elsewhere, with reports suggesting he will be joining team-mate Keaton Jennings at Lancashire next season.

Jennings' departure was confirmed this morning but a few hours later BBC Newcastle learned Will Smith is returning to Chester-le-Street next season after four years at Hampshire.

The 34-year-old won three county titles and a one day cup with Durham and will add experience to the middle order at a club desperate for some good news following a string of high profile departures in the wake of ECB sanctions.

  16. Notts set for nervy finalepublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Sussex 565 v Nottinghamshire

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

A tremendous day for Sussex who have added 335 runs today with career-best scores of 146 from Michael Burgess and 147 from Chris Jordan, and just to rub salt in the wounds a rapid 72 from Jofra Archer as Sussex were finally dismissed for 565.

Notts will take comfort from the fact that this looks a good batting track and in the knowledge that a full haul of batting points and a draw will be enough to secure promotion.

Anything less however and the long term Division Two leaders will be anxiously watching developments at Leicester.

  17. Final session under waypublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Somerset 236 & 73-3 v Middlesex 142

The most important session in these two sides' season begins.

If Somerset bat well and push their lead up towards 250 and beyond, they'll be huge favourites for victory.

Middlesex will still hope they can chase 200 or 220, but the lead is already up to 168.
