  1. Eng 200-4published at 81 overs

Four! A ping off the pads is timed to perfection by Dawid Malan, as the ball goes rolling through mid-wicket. It keeps Pat Cummins interested right up until the very last second, when Cummins dives and ends up headbutting the boundary rope. Starc follows it up with a dot ball as the Barmy Army finish belting out Jerusalem.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

You don't want England's tail to be facing these fast bowlers when the new ball is in their hands. It'll be interesting for me to see how this pitch has settled down. It was very plasticine-y and it did spin. I think, though, that a new ball might be good for Moeen and Malan.

  3. Eng 196-4published at 80.4 overs

The first ball of the day is full and onto Malan's pads, and the England batsman pops it safely away.

Rightio, here we go. The Australian's saunter onto the pitch before Malan and Moeen make their way down from the dressing room. Moeen looks completely unbothered by anything that's going on around him.

By the looks of things, it'll be Mitch Starc to open the bowling. The facial hair is still dreadful.

Australia batsman David Warner, speaking to BT Sport: "My neck's still stiff but I'm ready to go. I'll have to tinker with my technique a little bit but I'll adapt out there. I'll have to be more front-on, cautious and maybe concentrate a little harder."

David Warner is currently being interviewed. He's doing a grand job of not turning his neck if he absolutely doesn't have to.

  7. 'Hopefully the pitch will quicken up'published at 23:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2017

    Chris WoakesImage source, PA

Chris Woakes, speaking to BT Sport: "First innings runs are important so we're looking to get through the first 30 minutes. If we can get through that, and build another partnership, hopefully we can get up to a good total.

"I'd imagine the pitch will harden up a little bit as the day goes on. Hopefully it gets a little quicker than it was yesterday, which will help us. You've got to bash away. Its' going to be hard work but i'm looking forward to that challenge."

Quite a few of the England players are big rugby union fans, and it turns out England head coach Eddie Jones also knows his way around a cricket pitch.

But who does he want to win the Ashes? No spoilers, now...

The wicket at the Gabba wasn't particularly pacey yesterday. In fact, Tim Paine spent the majority of the day retrieving the ball from around his ankles.

    The reason? Adele, apparently.

A few days before the Test, the Australia papers said that the reason the Gabba hasn't been up to its bouncy best in recent times is because an Adele concert in March damaged the pitch.

So there you go. Adele is England's secret weapon., external I'd make a pun but I can't think of any.
