  1. 'We might be able to defend it'published at 09:34 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2018

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill, who has not fielded in this innings after being struck on his right foot while batting, on Sky Sports: "It's a bit sore, so it was a precaution with five one-dayers coming up against England.

"We just got that middle phase wrong with the bat. But we managed to scrap to a total that we might be able to defend. If we can take a couple more quick wickets, anything can happen in this game."

What I have liked about this partnership is they haven't gone into their shell - they have stayed up with the rate.

Right, let's see how long it takes to mop up all the moisture on the outfield. That was a heavier rain shower than the first one.

Hopefully play will be back under way before too long.

Australia are currently ahead by 19 runs on the DLS method so will duly win the T20 tri-series if there is no more play at Eden Park.

A few fans gamely try to crouch under their All Black brolleys as they stay in the stands, determined to still enjoy their drinks.

Fair play. Don't think they'll be rewarded with more cricket though.

It's a weird rain; it doesn't look like English rain.

If I didn't know better, I'd say this was the groundstaff saying 'This is it, lads.'

This is not just the blanket - this is the proper sheet covering.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops play - Aus 121-3published at 14.4 overs

Aus need 30 off 32 balls

Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell scurry off as the rain gets heavier.

Out comes the tractor with the covers. Hopefully the ground staff can wrestle them on a bit quicker this time.

  14. 6 runs

    Aus 121-3published at 14.4 overs

Santner has been excellent but the wheels have come off in this over.

It's full and Finch smacks the ball down the ground for six.

Oh dear, the rain is sheeting down again. Australia will surely be miles ahead on DLS.

  15. Aus 111-3published at 14 overs

The ball slips out of Santner's hand as he bowls to Finch, who swipes it away from his head and down to long-on.

Chapman takes the catch and is about to carry it over the ropes but throws the ball up, lands and jumps back over the right side of the boundary as he completes the catch.

Tremendous fielding - but that was a no-ball from Santner so no wicket. Just three runs conceded instead of seven though thanks to Chapman's efforts.

I've been impressed with how New Zealand have gone about this. They've been impressive in the field, diving around.

  17. Aus 108-3published at 14 overs

    Target 151

Good response from Sodhi to follow that six with one, dot, dot, one.

Here's the final ball from the leg-spinner - it's wide but Maxwell miscues and almost chops it on to his own stumps.

Was far enough away from real danger but's a vital dot ball for the Kiwis.

That was a great strike - he just stepped away and flat-batted it straight back.

  19. 6 runs

    Aus 106-3published at 13.1 overs

New Zealand really don't need this though. Glenn Maxwell steps away to leg and batters the ball down the ground and over the ropes.

Ish Sodhi is going to bowl his final over. Wickets needed.
