    Lancashire 158 & 66-7 (31.1 overs) v Nottinghamshire 222

Lancashire have lost five wickets for eight runs this morning.

Jake Ball has his third of the morning, Chris Nash taking a wonderful catch at gully after Jordan Clark chased a full delivery wide of his off stump.

He had absolutely no reason to play that shot.

Steve Gillies: A lot of people around the country complaining about the washout at Headingley; As someone who lives 200 yards from the ground I can say that we have probably only had about 6 or 7 fully dry days all year! You can't just expect it to take that amount of punishment!

Thanks for the (very) local info, Steve.

  3. wicket

WICKET Taylor (lbw Stevens) 2published at 11:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Kent 64 & 153 v Gloucestershire 110 & 84-4

Surely Gloucestershire aren't going to throw this away! Three balls after Gareth Roderick's dismissal, James Bracey falls to Matt Henry for a duck, edging low into the slips where Will Gidman dives to take the catch one-handed just millimetres above the turf.

Then in the next over Darren Stevens sends back Jack Taylor, who for a reason known only to himself, plays no stroke to a perfectly straight ball.

Remember, the Gloucestershire target is 108.

  4. wicket

WICKET Croft (b Ball) 0published at 11:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Lancashire 158 & 66-6 v Nottinghamshire 222

Nottinghamshire are absolutely rampant at Old Trafford, Jake Ball producing an absolute corker of a delivery as a touch of late swing sends the ball cannoning into the stumps.

Off stump goes flying out of the ground, and middle and leg are knocked back at an odd angle.

It's a beautiful sight to fans of seam bowling, probably not quite so beautiful to fans of the Red Rose.

Earlier on (see 11:02) we asked the question who said "What separates the winners from the losers is how a person reacts to each twist of fate?"

For completeness' sake, the answer is POTUS - the Donald himself.

Is this the first time Donald Trump has been mentioned in a cricket text commentary? Hopefully he'll hear about it and tweet a link to his followers.

  6. wicket

WICKET Roderick (lbw Henry) 26published at 11:25 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Kent 64 & 153 v Gloucestershire 110 & 81-2

Kent paceman Matt Henry said after the third day's play that he still believed they could win the match. Well, he's given them a tiny sliver of hope by removing Gareth Roderick after a stand of 75 with Benny Howell. The visitors only need 27 runs for victory, though.

  7. 50 runs

50 For Ben Brownpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Warwickshire 299 v Sussex 205-7

Sussex wicketkeeper Ben Brown reaches his 30th first-class half-century off 102 balls with five fours.

But the visitors still trail by 94 at Edgbaston.

  8. wicket

WICKET Livingstone (c Moores b Ball) 12published at 11:21 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Lancashire 158 & 66-5 v Nottinghamshire 222

That brief rain delay at Old Trafford wasn't enough to stop Lancashire's collapse.

Liam Livingstone drives a wide Jake Ball delivery through covers for four, but he's out the very next ball trying to play the same stroke to one just outside off stump.

Lancashire are only two runs ahead.

  9. wicket

WICKET Mitchell (lbw Abbott) 35published at 11:18 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Hampshire 290 & 244 v Worcestershire 211 & 67-5

    Kyle AbbottImage source, Rex Features

Neutrals may have been hoping for an exciting finish at the Ageas Bowl, but it looks like Hampshire are in no mood to oblige. Kyle Abbott pins Daryl Mitchell in front to end his near two-hour innings and that is the South African's fourth wicket. Very much 'advantage Hampshire' now.

  10. Gloucestershire on course for winpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Kent 64 & 153 v Gloucestershire 110 & 71-1

So far, so good for Gloucestershire, who have added 10 runs to their overnight score without losing a wicket. They only need 37 more, and Kent need someone to produce a truly inspired spell of bowling.

  11. wicket

WICKET Tongue (c Wheal b Berg) 4published at 11:15 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Hampshire 290 & 244 v Worcestershire 211 & 67-4

Hampshire strike the first blow as Gareth Berg removes Josh Tongue. Australian Travis Head comes out to join Daryl Mitchell. This looks like the key partnership for Worcestershire if they are to get close to the target.

  12. Hants look for wicketspublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Hampshire 290 & 244 v Worcestershire 211 & 67-3

Tight stuff by Hampshire at the start of the final day as Worcestershire manage just a single and a couple of leg-byes in the first two overs.

Josh Tongue, though, belies his nightwatchman status with a classic cover drive for four off Kyle Abbott at the start of the third. Another 257 needed by the visitors at the Ageas Bowl.

  13. wicket

WICKET Chanderpaul (c Taylor b Gurney) 0published at 11:11 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Lancashire 158 & 62-4 (26.2 overs) v Nottinghamshire 222

    Disaster for Lancashire.

Shiv Chanderpaul is out for a duck, Ross Taylor taking a sharp low catch at third slip from the bowling of Harry Gurney, who has all four wickets.

The weather comes to the hosts' rescue though, as a shower of rain forces the teams off the field.

  14. wicket

WICKET Robinson (c Ambrose b Barker) 12published at 11:09 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Warwickshire 299 v Sussex 194-7

It's not going to be all 10 for Olly Stone, as Keith Barker has Ollie Robinson caught behind for his first wicket of the innings. Sussex still trail by 105 runs.

  15. wicket

WICKET Jennings (lbw b Gurney) 27published at 11:08 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Lancashire 158 & 62-3 (26 overs) v Nottinghamshire 222

A wicket already at Old Trafford.

Keaton Jennings can't add to his overnight 27, pinned lbw by Harry Gurney.

Lancashire, still trailing by two runs, need to steady things quickly to avoid any risk of losing this game today.

The abandonment of the game at Headingley hasn't gone down well with some cricket watchers.

Simon Smale: "This is a disgrace. How about @EssexCricket get 10 pts and @YorkshireCCC 0 pts for failing to provide an acceptable outfield? Not a good look for the @CountyChamp."

Chris Ward: "Personally I think it's time the ECB stopped playing international cricket at grounds which don't match the standards of others. Strip Headingley of international status IMVHO."

Unfortunately, I've not been able to find a breakdown of rainfall by county, but anecdotally, it has seemed we've had unusually damp weather since I moved to Leeds in January. Are there any keen weather watchers out there able to help us out?

  18. Henry remains hopefulpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    Kent 64 & 153 v Gloucestershire 110 & 61-1 (15.5 overs) - match resumes 11:00 BST

Kent are hoping for a miracle this morning.

Gloucestershire were charging towards their target of 108 when rain stopped play at Canterbury on Sunday, needing just 47 more to win with nine wickets remaining.

But Kent seamer Matt Henry hasn't completely given up hope yet.

"We know we don't have many runs on the board to play with, but if we come out with good energy, you never know what can happen," he told BBC Radio Kent. "It's showed over the last day and a bit that there are wickets to be had."
