  1. NZ 162-5published at 67 overs

    De Grandhomme 14, Latham 83

That's a better drive from Colin de Grandhomme, getting to the pitch of the ball and walloping it to the boundary for four.

There's a brief appeal for lbw - "pitched outside?" Root asks umpire Oxenford as he wanders back to his mark - before he gets another one to turn into De Grandhomme's knee. Decent over from the captain!

If that is a leg bye, you've got to appeal and possibly review. Although it was probably missing on height after all that.

  3. NZ 158-5published at 66.1 overs

Hello! Turn and bounce for Joe Root from his first delivery.

The ball sneaks between bat and pad and it's only the extra bounce that helps the ball avoid the stumps and spin off for a couple of byes.

Drinks done, and Joe Root is replacing Jack Leach, which I assume means Leach is going to come on for Wood at the other end.

England will want to pick up another with the old ball and then hope the new one can get the last four wickets.

  6. drinks break

    NZ 156-5published at 66 overs

    55 overs remaining

Mark Wood, into his fifth over, forces Tom Latham to duck and weave his way through a short ball barrage.

A maiden - and time for some drinks.

  8. NZ 156-5published at 65 overs

    Leach 15-3-48-1

A yelp from keeper and bowler as Colin de Grandhomme pads up, but there's no interest from Bruce Oxenford.

An entertaining over from Jack Leach, there.

It's very loose again from De Grandhomme. It would be good to see Leach tease him here. He's carving at everything outside off.

  10. NZ 156-5published at 64.3 overs

On the drive goes Colin de Grandhomme once again, but there's turn out of the rough for Jack Leach and a thick outside edge dribbles past slip.

And again! Another big drive but it drops into a vacant gully. Joe Root immediately sticks Mark Stoneman in there.

I'm a bit worried. Jeremy Coney is feeling a bit poorly and I gave him a sizeable portion of that whitebait sandwich.

  12. NZ 154-5published at 64 overs

    Latham 83, De Grandhomme 8

Round the wicket comes Mark Wood to Tom Latham.

He mixes up his lengths nicely, short then full and at the toes, but Latham defends nicely. A maiden.

It did go in the air. Is it a drop? Yes, that's a definite drop. He didn't get his hands underneath it and the ball burst through his fingers.

  14. dropped catch

    Closepublished at 63 overs

    NZ 154-5

Good field, this for Jack Leach. There's a couple of catchers in place square of the wicket.

And it almost pays off! Colin de Grandhomme can't resist a big yahoo of a drive and the ball lands just millimetres in front of the diving fielder at point. The fielder got fingertips to it but the ball was going low to him.

That's a bit daft from De Grandhomme.

  17. NZ 152-5published at 62 overs

Colin de Grandhomme is going to go after the short ball, as he swivels and pulls Mark Wood into the deep for a single.

A little tuck off the pads from Tom Latham adds another couple to the total, before Wood jags one over his off stump.

That was very nicely played by Latham. Anderson invited him to drive and he took up the invitation.

  19. NZ 149-5published at 61 overs

    Latham 81, De Grandhomme 5

That's lovely from Tom Latham, taking a half-volley from James Anderson and driving it through the off side for four.
