If England had reviewed that lbw shout against Ish Sodhi - I don't think he hit it, either - it would have been missing the stumps.

Meanwhile, Jack Leach offers up just two runs from his latest over.

That was the easiest catch dropped in the history of Test cricket if Sodhi got a nick on that.

Just looking at the replay of that 'catch' from the last over.

Both Alastair Cook and Mark Stoneman are at short leg. They both reached up for the ball - and they both missed it.

Rich Scales: I see everyone ripping on Wood, hes not seen any international cricket in a while, and they judge him on one match... yet people still think Cook, who is so inconsistent, should be in the team!

Steve Kilner: I love New Zealand. I'll almost be sorry to beat them. Almost.

  5. NZ 169-6published at 71 overs

    Nine overs until new ball

An odd moment, as Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root both scream for Alastair Cook to catch the ball, while simultaneously appealing for an lbw. Don't put your eggs in one basket, and all that.

Ish Sodhi responds by sweeping Root fine for four.

Mark Wood has just been cantering on his horse.

  7. NZ 165-6published at 70 overs

    Leach 17-4-51-2

Pin-point accuracy from Jack Leach, getting the ball to drop into those troublesome bits of rough under the batsman's nose.

A single from the final ball of the over.

Mark Stoneman and James Vince have dropped two each now.

That was a chance. It went quickly but it carried. It's the sort of one you'd want to take more often than not.

  10. NZ 164-6published at 69.3 overs

Four men around the bat for Jack Leach, as he bowls to Ish Sodhi.

Ooft! Is that a chance? Sodhi leans forward and gets a firm leading edge and Stoneman, at short leg, barely has time to react. The ball thumps into his stomach and he tries to snaffle the rebound, but it went quickly.

    52 overs remaining

I'll be interested to see what Colin de Grandhomme does here. Not the sort of player you sense wants to block his way through the rest of the match.

Joe Root, running back to his mark after every delivery, twirls his way through a maiden.

There's 12 overs to go until the new ball, so if England want it before tea, Root and Leach are going to have to hustle some overs here.

England have got New Zealand where they want them - six down, with the new ball not far away and turn in the pitch.

  15. NZ 162-6published at 68 overs

That's worked out well for everyone - very good bowling from Jack Leach, good captaincy by Joe Root to change ends and a fine catch from James Vince.

Ish Sodhi is the new man, and he sees out a wicket maiden.

An excellent catch by Vince, although he did owe England one.

There was a puff of dust just before Latham hit that, indicating the ball turned.

That's really well caught by James Vince! The change of ends works for Jack Leach.

    Latham c Vince b Leach 83 (NZ 162-6)

That's a very good catch by James Vince!

I think Tom Latham will be disappointed with how he's got out. He goes for the sweep that's worked so well for him today, but there's extra bounce from Jack Leach, and Latham can only get a top edge on it.

The ball goes high in the air and Vince, running in, takes a good catch, diving forward to get both hands under the ball. Ironically, the telly were just showing two drops by Vince right before that delivery...

Mark Wood, after a very good five over spell, is going to take a breather.

Spin at both ends, then, as Jack Leach returns.

It's worth a shout but I think it's wise not to review that one.
