You do have days like these. There might be a chat or two behind a closed door in the dressing room this evening.
Jonathan Agnew
BBC cricket correspondent on Test Match Special
England are going to have to play so much better than they have batted in a long time if they are to save this game.

Four! Short, wide and cut to the boundary by Mohammad Amir.
Amir, wisely, defends the rest of the over, and that's your lot for the day from Lord's. Undoubtedly Pakistan's day.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Pakistan have done wonderfully well. Things didn't seem to be slotting into place for England, it's all been a little bit hap-hazard.
The last over of the day, and it'll be Dom Bess to bowl it.
Lead by 162
Ben Stokes beats Mohammad Abbas twice with two beauties, and Abbas somehow manages to avoid getting bat and ball.
There's a rueful smile from Stokes as he finishes the over.
Here are the last two wickets, which fell in relatively quick succession...
Another four for Mohammad Amir, as he guides James Anderson beyond Jos Buttler at gully and down to the boundary.
Anderson pitches the ball up, and Amir promptly drives him back down the ground for three.
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
It's been a day where there has been no consistency with where everyone is fielding. Good Test match teams have a continuity, with England it hasn't looked simple.
Lead by 154
A big, back foot flay from Mohammad Amir goes flying into the deep for a single, before Ben Stokes bowls a really good, full over at Mohammad Abbas.
He's bowled well today. Just a shame England have forgotten how to catch.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
That ball from Anderson to get the wicket really reared up. What you don't want to see is the next one shooting along the ground. A 150 lead for Pakistan is looking a very good position to be in. How about a cunning plan of declaring for Pakistan?
Mohammad Abbas is the last man in - there's 15 minutes left in the day...

That leaped at Hasan off a goodish length. It's lovely to get a wicket but all the batters will be thinking ' crikey, is it going through the top?' you can just see a few footmarks developing.
Hasan c Buttler b Anderson 0 (Pak 337-8)
England have held on to a catch!
This time it's Jos Buttler, leaping at gully, who clings on as Hasan Ali knocks a short ball in his direction. That seemed to really rise up off the pitch.

Bowser: If I were Pakistan I'd declare. They already have enough.
Hasan Ali is the new man in. Along with his giant arm guard.

Leg-side short ball which could easily have been helped round for four but a nice catch from Jonny Bairstow because the legs would have been tired.
Shadab c Bairstow b Stokes 52 (Pak 332-7)
The short ball works for England!
Shadab Khan couldn't resist taking on a tempter from Ben Stokes, and he's ended up gloving it through to Jonny Bairstow. He's the fourth Pakistan batsman to register a half-century today. The lead is 148.
Andrew Samson
BBC Test Match Special statistician
Shadab's second Test fifty to go with the 55 he made in Ireland, 127 minutes, 82 balls and six fours.
