England batsman Jos Buttler: "Worrying doesn't help so we tried not to do that. It was a tricky situation to be in but we showed character and bulit a partnership.

"I had the same mentality, I play the same way whether the ball is white, red or pink. Pakistan will be refreshed and the new ball is around the corner - we are hoping for a big session."

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

England spinner Dom Bess on TMS: "It was pretty special yesterday by the end of it, we tried to soak up the pressure and turn it around. It will be a massive test again this morning.

"It was nice having Jos Buttler out there with me, you know what he can do. I don't think many people will have seen me bat but I know what I am looking to do, I haven't surprised myself at all. I'm a very confident bloke when I'm out there.

"I'm optimistic. We can turn this around."

It will be exciting today - whatever happens. If England can muster a lead of anything over 120, Pakistan may be up against it a bit. They are already one wicket down with Babar Azam's broken arm.

I'd suggest the fans need to get here quick.

Their 125-run partnership has spared England's blushes - for the time being, at least - and Buttler was full of praise for Bess on his Test debut.

66 is the highest Test score on debut by an England number eight, made by Liam Dawson against India in December 2016.

Dom Bess, who will be resuming on 55 in twenty minutes time, is hunting that down.
