Hasan Ali's riposte to being driven for four is to get the ball to snake past Jos Buttler's outide edge. There's still a little something in this pitch for the bowlers.

Short again, and Jos Buttler goes on the hook. Faheem Ashraf, down in the deep, dives to cut off the ball, and ends up landing awkwardly on his shoulder.

A change of helmet for Jos Buttler, who, thankfully, seems to be okay.

He settles himself back down at the crease, and then clatters a full Hasan Ali delivery back down the field for four. Fine work.

    Eng 235-5published at 75.1 overs

Another bouncer, this time from Hasan Ali, gets stuck in the pitch and strikes Jos Buttler in the head.

Buttler was shaping to pull but he was through the shot too quickly and the ball ended up clattering into the back of the helmet. On comes the physio.

When did butchers become such a popular choice for fancy dress? There was a group here last year and two more today. Behind me, what I assume to be a chap on his stag do is dressed as a panda and is being forced to sink beer. "Have you ever seen a panda down a pint?" sing his companions. I'd take a picture, but the panda is showing more flesh than we can permit on a family show.

Ouch. Azhar Ali at cover is left wringing his hand as he runs across and pulls off a hand stinging stop to a drive from Jos Buttler.

Shadab Khan goes a touch fuller, and Buttler digs out a single.

Dom Bess made a half-century at Lord's last week, but he fell one run short today.

For all this talk of Stoneman's demise, is Malan lucky to still be in the side? When was the last time he scored a 50?

    Ollie, Twickenham

Malan made 53 in the second innings at Christchurch against New Zealand in March.

There's some swing from Hasan Ali as he gets the ball to nip past Jonny Bairstow's outside edge.

    A maiden.

There's also some football going on at Wembley - England are currently 1-0 up against Nigeria.

    Buttler 12, Bairstow 2

Jos Buttler, dare I say it, looks in the mood to score some quick runs.

Just the 12 from that over by Shadab Khan...

That's a massive opportunity which has gone begging. It was a straightforward catch which he has made a mess of.

Jos Buttler has been handed a reprieve!

Buttler goes for another thudding drive and Hasan Ali, moving to his left at mid-wicket, just lets the ball burst through his hands. Buttler didn't get hold of the ball at all, and that should have been taken.

And, like clockwork, Buttler slashes his next ball for four.

  17. Eng 220-5published at 70.2 overs

Four! Fine work from Jos Buttler, nailing a cover drive that races away to the boundary.

This old ball is still swinging. One or two deliveries are swinging wildly down the leg side but Pakistan need to be careful not to give too many cheap runs away.

Speaking of Mohammad Amir, he's going to continue for a little while, with the new ball 10 overs away.

He goes for the yorker to Jonny Bairstow but misses, and the ball swings past Sarfraz and away for four byes.

Two wickets after tea, both courtesy of a little extra bounce.

Dawid Malan was the first to fall, nicking Mohammad Amir through to slip.
