    Morgan's in the mood too.

  2. Eng 410-3published at 43.2 overs

It's an absolute carnival. Four more to Morgan, making him England's record ODI runscorer.

Don't bowl that to Eoin Morgan or you are going to get spanked!

  4. Eng 406-3published at 43.1 overs

It hadn't actually passed me by that Eoin Morgan had come in ahead of Joe Root. Anyway, six more. Morgan has 39 from 18 balls.

There's no respite for Australia. A wicket falls and the next batsman is Buttler, then Morgan, then Root!

I'm back to thinking that the 444-3 record is going to go, especially when Eoin Morgan is picking Jhye Richardson off his toes for yet another maximum. I wonder if the spectators have had to sign disclaimers today? Ooofff. Embarrassment for D'Arcy Short, when the ball spins past him and to the square leg fence. Up comes the 400! All in Trent Bridge on their feet. There's still seven overs to go!

Alex Hales is playing golf shots now.

    Hales 120, Morgan 20

It's the sort of stroke that makes you feel sorry for the ball. Billy Stanlake serves one up in to the arc of Alex Hales, who sends it in to orbit. There are parts of the boundary that are quite short, not this one. It's over mid-wicket and into the confectionery stall.

Fewest overs to reach 300 in an ODI:

    • 32.2 South Africa v Australia, Johannesburg 2006 (total 438-9 in 49.5)
    • 33.2 England v Australia, Nottingham 2018
    • 34.1 India v Sri Lanka, Rajkot 2009 (total 414-7)
  10. 6 runs

    Hales 113, Morgan 15

Normal service resumed. Short from Andrew Tye, helped over the square-leg boundary by Eoin Morgan. A chap in a blue shirt gathers the ball, holding on to it long enough to take a picture. 75 needed from nine overs for a new ODI record.

Hales looks physically tired at the moment, he almost looks a bit punchdrunk when trying to play some of his big shots now.

The advantages of having long levers. Alex Hales, very tall, stretches and is home before the ball cannoned into the stumps.

Direct hit from Marcus Stoinis. Alex Hales in trouble here...

I really don't know if Warner will play in the World Cup. It will depend on how much cricket he plays, what shape he is in and how the Australia team is going then. By that time, they might have settled and be playing some decent cricket.

For a moment, the scoring has been calmed. Always the way when a couple of wickets fall. For a long time, it seemed like England were nailed on for something record-breaking, but now it's not so certain. Australia are bowling well, very nice variations, more slower balls than not. When there are more slower balls than stock balls, do the stock deliveries become quicker balls?

I think the Australian public have forgiven the players over the ball-tampering. They have seen them apologise and take their punishment.

  17. Eng 349-3published at 39 overs

Eoin Morgan has joined Hales. The skipper, who missed the second game with a back problem, was almost run out without facing a ball, having to dive back after being given a yes-no call. Ashton Agar finishes his 10-over spell. It says much about how much tap has been dished out that his 1-70 looks respectable.

When Ben Stokes is fit, how do England leave out one of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales?
