It's a shame for England and fantastic for Australia. Roy is furious with himself. It was always a little quicker off the bat than the ones they have judged well. It was too tight, but it still needed a perfect pick-up and throw from D'Arcy Short.

Roy run out (Short) 82 (Eng 159-1)

Jason Roy has run himself out with a century firmly in sight.

The England opener flicks it round the corner, turns after the first and calls Jonny Bairstow through.

But D'Arcy Short got to it quickly and gets the throw off perfectly, one bounce into Tim Paine's gloves and off come the bails.

A real shame for Roy, the only real misjudgment of a fine knock to set England on their way.

England have run exceptionally well but I think this is one risk too many.

Jason Roy takes on D'Arcy Short for a risky second and Tim Paine looks to have whipped off the bails in time.

  6. Eng 156-0published at 19 overs

Andrew Tye strays short and Jonny Bairstow clatters a powerful pull to the fence. That's some shot.

He then scampers a couple more to keep England and scoreboard ticking.

This is a decent T20 score, let alone ODI.

  7. Eng 150-0published at 18.3 overs

Roy punches down the ground for a nice-looking two before another single sees him bring up England's 150 off just 112 balls. Blitz.

    Fair point, Paul.

Meanwhile, Andrew Tye is getting more punishment, this time with the ball in hand.

Jason Roy hits through the line and smashes another six over wide long-on. Beautiful strike.

Marcus Stoinis continues after drinks and Jason Roy clips away for a well-run two.

Nervy moments follow as Roy hits over the top, doesn't quite catch it but has enough power to clear the diving fielder at mid-off before it runs away to the fence.

Yet more sublime running from this pair as Andrew Tye is slow to set off and England turn one into two.

That's what you get for using your boot earlier, Andrew. The opposition identify you as a weak link in the field. Using your boot is acceptable on your follow through as a bowler but rarely at other times.

At the start, it was either a four or a dot. Too often there were two or three boundaries an over. In Cardiff, Justin Langer was disappointed with how many big overs Australia conceded.

Pigeon talk aside, Jason Roy is smacking it to all parts, this time finding the fence through the covers.

He then rotates the strike again and Jonny Bairstow shapes to hit a four of his own but Aaron Finch does well, diving near the square leg boundary to cut it off.

With that, Finch jogs off for a comfort break. That'll be drinks.

Siobhan and Richard, I have a few questions.

Is there someone stranded in your house that has flagged up the pigeon problem to you?

Or has the pigeon been there for a while and you thought it couldn't possibly get in the way of a day at the cricket?

How much devastation has the pigeon wreaked?

That's also a terrible advert for that particular homing pigeon - clearly not a great sense of direction.

Talking of Marcus Stoinis, he's into the attack, with Australia already onto their sixth bowler.

He strays short and Jonny Bairstow swipes it away but that's brilliant! D'Arcy Short puts in a fine diving stop to save the boundary.

Just four from the over. Good start by Stoinis.
