A terrific day all round for Jos Buttler.

First with the gloves, and then with the bat.

  4. 'It's great for the side'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

Man of the match Jos Buttler, speaking TMS, on where his innings ranks: "It's right up there.

"We should have chased that total down with ease, but it's fantastic to win it. They're so enjoyable when you win by a wicket.

"It's a good habit to have, knowing how to win and finding a way to win when you probably shouldn't. Adil Rashid played a fantastic hand, and so did Jake Ball. He soaked it up and handled it brilliantly.

"I had a lot of faith in Rash. As soon as we got to 30 or 40 to win, I thought we could take it all the way.

"It's great for the side. We weren't as good as we could be, but to win the game is all that counts. That will stand us in good stead. "

  5. 'England's best chance of winning the World Cup'published at 18:12 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

As Jos Buttler says, it's not about winning series 5-0 - it's about winning one-off games. At 114-8 - it was so important that they suddenly grabbed it.

I've got everything crossed that Buttler doesn't pick up an injury. What he provides is that calmness. He reads the game better than most. He knows the opposition is scared of him the most.

If he's fit and firing next year, they've got the best chance they've ever had of winning the men's 50-over World Cup.

  6. 'Everything is about the World Cup'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

Man of the match Jos Buttler, who made 110 not out, on TMS: "Everything is about building towards the World Cup. We're always trying to build.

"It's no mean feat to win the series 5-0, but it's not about winning series - it's about winning one-off games."

  7. 'This means more than England's 481'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Forget the 481 at Trent Bridge and the other hammerings - this game is one England will take more from. For them to get over the line today - in a real close game after Australia were favourites - this means more.

It was a real big day to make sure Australia got on the plane with no victories in the 50-over format.

England have to face Australia again on Wednesday for a one-off Twenty20 at Edgbaston.

India then rock up for three T20's and three ODIs. That series should be a belter.

Jos Buttler knew that it was down to him. You get a sense that they really enjoy it - MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers are like that. You need to have a huge amount of inner belief and strength.

Without him, this England team would be a very good one. With him, they're outstanding.

  10. 'Our fightback was awesome'published at 18:01 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

More from Eoin Morgan: "As a group it's the first time we failed in this series. It's not something we want to replicate.

"Up until today we've progressed very nicely. Our bowling has come a long way and the game at Trent Bridge was pretty special. The way we fought back today was pretty awesome.

"It was a great atmosphere. The support we've had in Manchester has been fantastic. They were our 12th man today."

    5-0 whitewash complete. Job done.

  13. 'Mesmerising' Buttlerpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

England captain Eoin Morgan, speaking at the presentation: "Massive positives to take from today. When times are tough and not a lot of us have turned up, the fact that we bat all the way down the order means one of us has to come off.

"Today was mesmerising. Jos was outstanding. Everyone in that changing room is very proud of him."

  14. 'We folded with bat, ball and in the field'published at 17:57 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

Australia captain Tim Paine: "It wasn't as difficult as Trent Bridge, but we've certainly been taught a lesson by a world-class outfit.

"We had them under pressure. Jos and Rashid played really well but we didn't get enough balls in the right area.

"With bat, ball and in the field during this series, we've folded a little bit."

They have won without any of the top five firing. That's very important when you get to knockout stages. They have found a way of winning when you're not at peak condition. It's important that you win tight games.
