That's really good bowling, perfect for an off-spinner to a left-hander and a very tidy stumping. Good timing to take the bails when the foot was up.

    Gone!

Good awareness from Jos Buttler, who knew he'd got his man. Shaun Marsh just overbalanced, foot stranded in mid-air, and Australia are in a bit of bother.

Shaun Marsh, pressing forward, overbalances, and his back foot is dangling in the air like he's attempting to do some yoga.

Buttler, quick as you like, whips the bails off. This is out...

Oh, has Jos Buttler pulled off a terrific stumping?

    We're going upstairs...

  5. Aus 97-3published at 12.4 overs

Shot! A reverse sweep from Alex Carey to only his third ball of the innings, and Moeen watches the ball race past a tumbling mid-wicket fielder and into the ropes.

That'll be a wide from Moeen, just losing his line slightly, and Carey turns him off his front pad for an easy single.

It was Moeen who made the breakthrough for England this morning, getting rid of Aaron Finch and Marcus Stoinis in the space of three deliveries.

Alex Carey, in at five, sees off Plunkett's final delivery.

It was the same line as the previous delivery, but it was cross seam and stuck in the pitch. Morgan has put his catchers in front of the wicket and it was chipped straight to short mid-wicket.

Travis Head can't believe it. He's given his wicket away again.

Plunkett gets a cutter to shape back into Head's body and he gets himself in a tangle. The ball rises on him a touch and a leading edge pops up to Eoin Morgan, who barely has to move from his position at mid-wicket to take the catch.

Too straight from Liam Plunkett, trying to get a delivery to shape back in to Travis Head, and the opener gets another boundary for his troubles.

A change for England - Liam Plunkett is about to come on, replacing Jake Ball.

It's been a very positive start. I went to training with Australia yesterday. I wasn't looking for a game. A lot of the talk was about being more positive, having greater intent at the top of the innings. They have been mesmerised by England's ability to hit boundaries throughout the innings.

Ten half-centuries for Travis Head, in 39 ODIs for Australia. He's only turned one of those into centuries.

This is a belting pitch, though, and Australia have had a definite change of mindsets when it comes to playing England's spinners. Head and Shaun Marsh nab a couple of singles to keep things ticking along through Moeen's latest over.

Head is one of the positives out of this trip. He's learned a lot about himself. He and Ashton Agar are the two pluses.

And that will be fifty for Travis Head, leaning back and hoisting Jake Ball past the sole slip for a single.

Just the eight fours in that 36-ball innings...

  16. Aus 76-2published at 9.2 overs

This outfield is so quick, as Travis Head leans back to cut Jake Ball through backward point and the ball absolutely flies into the boundary rope.

The Australia opener is two runs away from a half-century.

This is where the England team seem to have all bases covered. Depth in bowling, even with no Stokes and Woakes. They look very strong.

A little skip down the pitch for Travis Head, and he plonks Moeen back down the pitch for four.

Another little shimmy of the feet brings Head a single. Tidy from Moeen.

    Ball 4-0-22-0

Travis Head welcomes Jake Ball back into the attack with a furious cut that goes racing away through backward point for four.

Ball spears down a slower delivery and Head gets into a tangle, a leading edge rising up invitingly, but there's enough on it to take the ball over the bowler's head.
