    Buttler 39, Curran 2

Jos Buttler calls Sam Curran through for two but takes a little stumble as he turns for the second. The throw comes in but Buttler's recovered well, and he gets home before Tim Paine can gather the ball.

Ooft. Lovely from Nathan Lyon, spinning the ball past Curran's outside edge.

England have got everything required to win a World Cup. England have got to be careful that they don't become complacent.

No team is good enough in any sport just to rock up. That's the only doubt about this side. They have everything - more than any England side ever. But they do have these moments.

    Target 206

Sam Curran is off the mark with a dab down to third man, before Jos Buttler comes across his stumps and thumps a single away.

It's all gone a bit quiet.

Sam Curran's batting looked handy on Test debut, but there's a lot of pressure on this - it's a different game. He's got character but this will not be easy. Australia are now favourites to win this match.

    Gone!

Naturally, it's Nathan Lyon who takes the catch to dismiss Moeen. Moeen's been ticking, looking to play a few shots, but he's been undone by a back-of-a-length delivery. It might have stuck in the pitch a touch and Moeen gets his arms and legs into a tangle, popping up a leading edge that Lyon, at backward point, gratefully clings on to.

    Need 120 to win

Moeen, after a few overs of scratching around to Nathan Lyon, gets down and slog sweeps him. Up into the air the ball goes, briefly interesting the fielder in the deep, but it bounces safely and Moeen has to settle for two.

Jos Buttler shows his mate how to do the shot properly with a wristy reverse-sweep that rolls down to third man.

Martin Haigh: Is that cheese that has been heated up to melt it then cooled before eating it? That’s more perverse than England’s bowling v batting performance.

  10. Eng 81-5published at 22 overs

    Moeen 13, Buttler 32

Close! An airy punch from Moeen, looking to deposit right-armer Stoinis back over his head, and instead a thick outside edge trickles through a vacant slip cordon for two.

Moeen tries the shot again, and misses, before settling in to some tidy defending.

Right, the actual debate was: cheese that has been melted, and then cooled, will taste the same as cheese that was never melted. Discuss.

Marcus Stoinis is coming on for a bowl.

Solidified melted cheese is like God's sweet nectar. The three phases of cheese (solid, melted, solidified) are all glorious for very different reasons. They're world's apart but all perfect!

Jos Buttler goes for a big, booming reverse sweep, and almost ends up guiding the ball onto the stumps! It was a straighter delivery from Nathan Lyon and Buttler didn't time the shot, ball thudding onto the back of the bat.

Onto the legs drifts Billy Stanlake, and Moeen gratefully plonks it to deep square for a single. Jos Buttler then goes for a pull and somehow manages to avoid overbalancing onto his stumps. Terrific balance.

Oh! A peach from Nathan Lyon, finding turn and bounce as Moeen presses forward, and the ball somehow misses the top of the stumps. I've just had a sudden flashback to all the times Lyon got Moeen out in the Ashes.

A few singles are exchanged to keep things ticking along.

Stanlake goes short to Moeen straight away, bending his back, and Moeen fends with his bat to get a single.

Jos Buttler's looking to run the ball down to third man but he can't quite get him away. Tidy from Stanlake, with just a single coming from the over.
