That has shocked everyone, a batsman actually missing the ball. It wasn't a great delivery, there to be hit, but Buttler might have tried to hit it too hard.

    Buttler b Siddarth 34 (Eng 94-1)

    Ooft, did India need that!

It's a straight ball from Siddarth Kaul and Jos Buttler essentially just misses it. He's trying to mow the ball over cow corner and instead he ends up pushing at fresh air and the ball clatters into the stumps.

There's no margin for error for the bowlers, no grip, no seam movement.

  4. Eng 94-0published at 7.4 overs

A delicate dab for Jason Roy brings him a single before Jos Buttler goes after a short one and, rather fortunately, helps it over MS Dhoni's head for yet another four.

    Eng 89-0published at 7.2 overs

Siddarth is going to carry on - oh, and so is Jason Roy! Six!

It's pitched up from Siddarth, right in Roy's eyeline, and he waits just a second before smashing it back down the ground and into the stands.

  10. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 8 July 2018

    Daniel Norcross
    BBC Test Match Special

It was extremely difficult. He was sprinting at full pelt. He got it in both his hands - and once he'd got there I thought he was going to hold on.

  11. dropped catch

Buttler dropped on 28published at 6.4 overs

Oh, that would have been a brilliant catch!

Jos Buttler top edges a sweep and it looks, for a second, like the ball might drop safe. Siddarth runs forward, makes a dive to get the ball in his hands - and just lets it burst through his hands at the last second!

Another change for India, with leggie Yuzvendra Chahal brought on for a bowl.

  14. Eng 73-0published at 6 overs

    Roy 45, Buttler 27

A couple of singles end the over.

Just the 22 runs from that one, then...

  15. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 8 July 2018

In this day and age, with the amount of work they put in on their fielding, he should have caught it.

  16. 6 runs

    Eng 71-0published at 5.4 overs

Jason Roy lashes the ball miles into the air as Hardik finally gets a fuller ball.

It's flying back down the ground where Chahar is waiting. He watches it, sticks out his hands - and lets it fly through them and over the ropes for another six!

Pandya is not getting the length right. Three short ball, three boundaries.

  18. 6 runs

    Eng 65-0published at 5.3 overs

    Short, again.

    Deposited for a boundary, again.

Except this time it's gone all the way! I'd maybe try something different...

  19. 'It's not a day to be a bowler'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 8 July 2018

    James Anderson
England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

The boundaries are tiny. It's not a day to be a bowler.

  20. Eng 59-0published at 5.2 overs

    That'll be another four!

It's short from new bowler Hardik Pandya and Jason Roy walks forward, raises his bat and helps the ball fly away to the fine leg boundary.

And again! Same delivery, same shot, same result.
