England are in a great place at the moment in white-ball cricket. People are being left out, but you'd much rather have this selection headache than no-one in form at all.

I love watching this England team - they are an absolute pleasure to watch.

It's probably the right decision, as harsh as it might seem. If you look at who's scoring runs in the top six, it's about the players who are in form.

You've got the back your back batsmen to get runs. It's not easy for England at the minute, but what a great place to be - where you're leaving out one of the best batsmen in the world.

This is specifically a T20 decision. Joe Root is still one of the best one-day players in the world - he's like the glue in that batting line-up; he's so versatile. This decision won't have any bearing on that.

Alfie Nelligan: The right call has been made. Root is a class player in ODI/Test still. Would have been too harsh on Hales to be dropped.

It was a decent day for England's women yesterday.

They clocked a record 142-run win over New Zealand in the first match of the three match one-day series.

India captain Virat Kohli: "It looks like a pretty hard wicket and I think the new ball will do a bit.

"We thought it was best to play another seamer with that amount of grass on the pitch. You have to weigh your options and what the balance of the side will be. We've got three one-day games and Kuldeep is as lethal as he has ever been. It's just about the balance of the side.

"It's a great opportunity for others. We keep speaking about looking at our bench strength and at the World Cup in 12 months time - it's paramount, how these people react."

There's two changes for India: Deepak Chahar makes his T20 debut and right-arm seamer Siddarth Kaul returns to the side.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar isn't fit, and Kohli wants an extra seamer in place of Kuldeep Yadav.

England captain Eoin Morgan on replacing Joe Root with Ben Stokes: "Joe has been a fantastic player but for this one-off game we've gone with Ben. It's always difficult decision when you've got such a significant player missing out, but it's great to have Ben back in the team. He's fit to bowl."

On the toss: "We would have chased if we won the toss. The wicket looks good - it looks really hard. I don't think it's going to change a great deal."

No messing around - here are the headlines.

India have won the toss and will have a bowl first. There's no Kuldeep Yadav or Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the hosts.

The big news for England is that Ben Stokes is back and, according to Eoin Morgan, is fit to bowl. He's replacing Joe Root in the line-up.
