  1. Ind 72-2published at 7 overs

    Target 199

Stokes has a plan. Wide of off stump, just inside the guidelines, as full as he can. Death bowling. Only two from the over. Excellent stuff.

What was most extraordinary about that Chris Jordan catch was that he always looked like he was going to take it.

  3. Ind 71-2published at 6.2 overs

    Target 199

Two things about that Jordan catch. One, the ground he made. He was travelling like Usain Bolt. Two, the roar when he took it. It would have been heard on the moon. Ben Stokes into the attack.

The good news for England is that the greatest run-chaser in the history of the game, Virat Kohli, has arrived. He announces himself by clipping through mid-wicket for four.

It had to be something special to get rid of KL Rahul.

I'm telling you now, this is one of the best catches you'll ever see. Chris Jordan has done something that defies science, a little bit of athletic genius. KL Rahul lofts a Jake Ball slower ball towards long-on. Jordan, who I think started at mid-on, runs back, throws himself to his right and takes the catch maybe a foot above the turf. Brilliant. Words don't do it justice.

It's almost as if they are trying to outdo each other with beautifully timed shots.

Pitch the darn thing up! Jake Ball to KL Rahul. Pulled for six.

This is the problem with not having the second spinner in your side - Eoin Morgan can't take pace off the ball in the powerplay.

  14. Ind 56-1published at 5 overs

England's problem is that their attack is very samey. Four right-arm pacers. No Moeen Ali, not even the off-breaks of Joe Root.

That is a phenomenal shot because he has sliced across the ball - and it has gone into the stands.

What an extraordinary shot. KL Rahul has lofted Liam Plunkett over backward point for six. Yes, he has opened the face and got the ball over the boundary. How do you do that?

Robert Stow: If you had to list the top 10 white-ball bowlers in the country (or the best few combinations of attack) would anyone (other than the England selectors) have Ball or Jordan in there?

There are a lot of spectators watching from the flats at the far end of the ground. Lots of bellies exposed. How much more expensive is a flat with a view of the cricket?
