It would have been signaled a wide if he hadn't got a nick on it. This game, I'm pretty sure, is now gravitating England's way.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 39 overs

    Pandya c Buttler b Plunkett 21 (Ind 191-6)

But it's the end of Pandya, down the leg-side, flicked away and expertly snaffled by a diving Buttler behind the stumps.

  3. Ind 191-5published at 38.5 overs

The increased pace of Plunkett is more to Dhoni's liking and he punches it away off the back foot but Roy, fit to continue after that earlier missile from the bat of Raina thudded into his fingers, hauls the ball back on the slide at deep cover and restricts the scoring to two, Dhoni with 20 from 35 balls.

MS Dhoni likes to knock it around and get to a position where the pressure is back on the bowler.

  5. Ind 187-5published at 38 overs

    Pandya 20, Dhoni 17

Well MS has made 17 from 32 balls so something has to give soon. The end of Rashid's eighth over and the required rate is 11.33.

Sreejay S: I know this may be sacrilege for my fellow Indians, but MS Dhoni should not be around for the Cricket World Cup. He is no longer the finisher he was and we have better young players to take his spot.

Don't worry we won't disclose your number

  7. Ind 182-5published at 37 overs

    Target 323

Pandya gets Moeen away for his first boundary, only the 13th of the innings. Dhoni attempts to launch one out of the ground and knocks himself off balance. There is no contact with the bat but no raising of the umpire's finger either. Moeen finishes 1-42 from his 10 and only two fours conceded.

I thought this pitch might crumble a bit. Again, Moeen and Rashid are turning the screw.

  9. Ind 175-5published at 36 overs

    Target 323

Dhoni is brooding like a caged tiger but he has to play out five successive dot balls from Rashid and 148 are still needed by India

  10. Not outpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 14 July 2018

The review perishes, it came off the glove which is a bit of a problem with an lbw appeal. The phrase "rock n roll" it from the TV umpire seems almost de rigueur now. But it was fairly obvious that it was not out in any case.

  11. Ind 174-5published at 35 overs

    Target 323

With the required rate approaching 10 per over, Dhoni strikes his first boundary, a step down the wicket and smearing Moeen to the mid-wicket fence, the first four conceded by him. Pandya adds three but England have asked for an lbw review.

India seem to have just scored in singles. They've not looked to target the boundaries.

  13. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 34 overs

    Dhoni 7, Pandya 7

No boundaries yet for Dhoni but he keeps the strike with a single off Rashid's final ball. Moeen has two overs left, Rashid four, 159 still for India to find. The players will pause for a drink in the warmth of the late afternoon.

India are in gears one and two. They need to go into gears four, five and six pretty soon.

  15. Ind 162-5published at 33 overs

    Target 323

Moeen again, the early evening sunshine glinting on a small circle of thinning hair at the crown. Pandya executes a sweetly-timed cut for three but the boundaries remain elusive.

  17. Ind 157-5published at 32 overs

    Target 323

Pandya the new batsman, he has an ODI best of 83 in his 40 matches and he is going to need a few today if his team are to reach their target and wrap up the series. Only singles conceded by Rashid and only one four hit off the England spinners in 12 overs to date.

It's been very impressive from England. Suresh Raina had been playing the waiting game. You knew he'd have to eventually take a risk and he was through the shot a little too soon.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 31.1 overs

    Raina b Rashid 46 (Ind 154-5)

Doesn't do Raina any favours though, he's gone for the big one, it's ungainly and it's out.

  20. Ind 154-4published at 31 overs

    Target 323

A rare fumble from Jos Buttler gathering a throw and India can steal a single off Moeen.
