  1. Ind 82-3published at 14 overs

Need 241 runs from 36 overs

Four! Ooft. What a shot that is from Virat Kohli, driving Ben Stokes through the covers with aplomb.

Kohli leans back and runs another couple down to third man, before nabbing a quick single from the final ball of the over. That's a profitable for India, working 12 runs from the over.

Raina has some success at Lord's, he scored 78 in the second innings of the Test match in 2011 and in the same year in the ODI he made 84.

  3. Ind 74-3published at 13.1 overs

Here's Ben Stokes... and there goes Ben Stokes!

A loosener first up, full, straight, into the pads and Suresh Raina steps forward and whacks four over mid-wicket.

Forget the catch (which was brilliant, obvs), Jos Buttler kicked himself back on to his feet like Shawn Michaels.

  5. Ind 70-3published at 13 overs

    Kohil 10, Raina 5

A hopeful shout from Liam Plunkett as he slides a delivery into Virat Kohli's pads. It's high, though, the ball striking Kohli above the knee roll, and umpire Alex Wharf shakes his head. It's the right call, too. That ball was jagging over the top of the stumps.

Jonny Bairstow is back on the pitch, incidentally, with a bit of strapping on his right hand.

Raina has always had a problem with the short ball and that is why the India selectors tried some younger players. But Raina brings a lot of experience, he's a fine fielder and can bowl a few overs of spin.

  7. Ind 65-3published at 12 overs

    Willey 6-0-30-1

David Willey, into his sixth over, serves up a short ball that is swatted away for a single by Suresh Raina. Virat Kohli then almost gets strangled down the leg side, unable to resist a little fiddle at a delivery that's called wide.

There's a bit of needle in the crowd. "You're not singing anymore," from the England fans. Something derogatory about Ben Stokes is the response from the India supporters.

  9. Ind 61-3published at 11 overs

    Target 323

That's really brilliant work from Jos Buttler. The reaction time to get himself back into the right place and just thrust a hand forward... terrific.

Suresh Raina is out in the middle. It's gone quiet at Lord's.

Rahul has been in very good form but Plunkett making use of the famous slope, getting the ball to move back in and that is what defeated him. What a fantastic catch by Jos Buttler, absolutely outstanding, now you've got to say England are on top.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.5 overs

    KL Rahul c Buttler b Plunkett 0 (Ind 60-3)

    What a catch!

Oh, that is so, so good from Jos Buttler. KL Rahul gets chopped in half by a Liam Plunkett delivery. The ball takes the inside edge but it's tailing down low to Buttler. Buttler is initally moving to his right but then changes direction, swaying to his left and throwing a hand forward. The ball nestles in Buttler's hand and he manages to cling on as he cartwheels over. Brilliant.

KL Rahul is the new man at the crease, and Liam Plunkett is the new bowler.

That's probably called a bad patch, Dhawan is batting well but getting out. He hit that well but straight to the fielder and Ben Stokes does not miss those. There will maybe be a period of quiet and the asking rate may increase.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10 overs

    Dhawan c Stokes b Willey 36 (Ind 57-2)

The last ball of the powerplay, and it's brought about a wicket!

It's a good take from Ben Stokes at backward point. Shikhar Dhawan was looking to be aggressive, throwing his hands across the line and going hard at the ball, but instead he's spooned a thick outside edge into the air. Stokes barely has to move to get his hands on the ball.

  15. Ind 57-1published at 9.4 overs

Shot! A delicious flick of the wrists from Shikhar Dhawan as David Willey spears the ball into his pads, and he beats two fielders to pick up a four behind square. Willey, annoyed, thwacks his hand against his leg.

Strange kind of shot after making a hundred in the previous game, maybe sometimes over-confidence can seep in. It was a really ugly hoick because he is such an elegant player.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.2 overs

    Wood b Rohit 15 (Ind 49-1)

And that's why Mark Wood stayed on!

A little change of pace from Wood, and it's done for Rohit Sharma. He comes charging out of his crease, aiming a huge swipe across the line, and ends up missing the ball by some way. The zing bails go clattering into the air, and Wood wheels away in celebration.

Eoin Morgan's going to persevere with Mark Wood. He jogs in for a chat with his bowler before tinkering with the field.
