What a good knock from David Willey.
But anchored by Joe Root, who made his 12th ODI century...
...and David Willey's maiden ODI half-century, England set India 323 to win.
The middle order came and went...
India put the squeeze on in the middle overs, but Joe Root and Eoin Morgan dropped singles here and there, occasionally lashing out to keep building England's innings...
...although Eoin Morgan became Kuldeep Yadav's third victim.
There was one point where everyone stopped paying attention to what was happening on the field...

However, when wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav first entered the attack, it was the same old story for England.

Let's have a recap, shall we?
Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bat first for the first time at home since August 2016, when they racked up 444-3 against Pakistan.
They got off to a good start, too...

There is the Yarra River where it all started at Melbourne, which has huge significance for my family, and at Lord's we have the Serpentine and the Regent's Canal. I think we'll leave out the Mogden Sewage Works at Isleworth though. Jack Russell could do an accompanying book of watercolours, Freddie Flintoff for the advertising campaign on ITV. It's a thought anyway. But here's Amy Lofthouse again to take you through lunch, with 323 the target this afternoon for India.
After my caffeine-deprivation-based brain melt the other day, when the wrong river was mentioned at Trent Bridge, despite the obvious clue in the location, I have come up with an idea for a Christmas stocking-filler, a book of water features at the Test venues of the world.

You could see Joe Root brought a different mentality today. The last few weeks have been difficult for him. Being left out of the T20 team would have hurt him. Today, he's cleared out all the nonsense.

A fine knock from Willey, the score was a modest 239 when he came to the crease in the 42nd over. A super partnership with Root, 83 they put on.
Root run out 113 (Eng 322-7)
Nothing off the final ball, they attempt a bye but Dhoni hits the target and Root is run out. It's an impressive recovery from England, however, and India will need 6.46 per over.

That's like Lance Klusener from David Willey.
Eng 322-6
And there it is, from just 30 balls, a full toss and he swipes it to long on for two.
Fabulous running from Root, considering he has been out there since the 11th over, he scuttles back for a second to give Willey the strike and the left-hander has a chance of a maiden fifty
