Niche stat, but a good one: Sam Curran is the second youngest player to score a fifty for England when batting at number eight or lower. He's currently protecting Stuart Broad, who has 118 Test appearances to his two, from the strike.

Maybe not. Sam Curran still trusts Stuart Broad. Broad gets the strike with a single on the final ball.

The Hollies are chanting 'don't take me home'. This is a proper Edgbaston atmosphere now.

India's highest successful run chase in England was also their first win here, when they chased 174 to win at The Oval in 1971.

Sam Curran's maiden Test fifty took 54 balls, with eight fours and two sixes.

He is the fourth youngest player to score a Test fifty for England after Denis Compton, Jack Crawford and Haseeb Hameed.

It's as calm as you like from Sam Curran too. His heart must be going but he calmly waves his bat to the dressing room, there's no big celebration.

Broad needs to just stay with the 20-year-old. India would now need their highest run chase in England to win this. In the bag?

What on earth are we witnessing here? This bloke is 20 years old, playing his second Test. When he got chosen at Headingley, we wondered if England had the wrong Curran brother.

    What. A. Shot.

England might have found someone here. Sam Curran steps down to Ishant and slaps it over extra cover for six.

That's his first Test fifty. Edgbaston stands to applaud a new star.

There was indeed a fine catch completed in the crowd for that Curran six. Get him in the slips! Sam Curran wants to up the rate. After that big blow he tries again and again to hit Umesh Yadav away but only connects with fresh air.

He's two short of a maiden Test half century in his second match.

That was a huge blow from Sam Curran!

A magnificent catch in the crowd - he stayed in his seat and plucked it.

    Ravi Ashwin to Sam Curran...

Curran charges down the pitch and whacks a massive six into the stands!! The crowd absolutely love it.

It was India's last tour to England that saw Stuart Broad's batting fall away. It was Varun Aaron that hit the Englishman with a bouncer and he has never been the same since.

The Indians haven't forgotten it. Broad gets a bouncer from Umesh Yadav but the ball flies for four byes.

Now Curran guides one to the third man boundary. Nine from the over. Crucial, crucial runs.

Kohli is one of those characters that makes Test cricket so enjoyable to watch. You can tell he lives every ball. Happy to be the pantomime villain, he's overjoyed when things go his and India's way, and evidently frustrated when it doesn't.

    Ben, in London.

I'm not as confident for England's hopes. They haven't got a spinner of Ravi Ashwin's class for a start. Stuart Broad's go-to shot looks to be the sweep. He gets down on one knee to knock the ball behind square.

Ashwin responds with the quicker one that swings in. Broad smiles. I don't think he picked it. I'm no lip reader but I think Broad may have said "that's a good ball, mate".

If England bowl as well as they did in the first innings, but take their catches this time, they could have enough already.
