England need 4 wickets
Joe Root is grinning at mid off. That might be a nervous smile, rather than him loving the occasion. Another one goes past the edge of Pandya's bat and Anderson gives him a stare. Kohli meanwhile continues to look completely unflustered. It doesn't look like he's going to play a big shot any time soon. He's playing himself in.

In a game this tight, you need most things to go your way. England have had a lot of run-out opportunties but have not once hit the stumps. When Virat Kohli got a half-chance, he took it.

John-Trafik-Elliott: Brilliant start. Come on England, I’ve got a flight in an hour, get this tail sorted.
74 runs to win
"Yes, Broady!" shout the slips. Stuart Broad gets a bouncer right on target, right at the grille of Virat Kohli's helmet. The Indian skipper is a little surprised but gets his bat up in time.

I don't know, he might have just been in.

That was gone if he'd hit!
Almost a run-out! Virat Kohli would have exploded if Pandya had ran himself out. It's James Anderson with the throw but he misses. Would have been tight.

England might hope Virat Kohli gets frustrated off strike at the other end, but he won't mind it while Hardik Pandya is in.
He will when it gets to the tail. This next wicket is key.
Target 194
Hardik Pandya is a proper all-rounder. He averages 35 in Test cricket. There's work to do for England. One more wicket and they're into the tail. Anderson keeps the pressure on the Indian, tempting him outside off stump. Pandya gets a single on the final ball. Virat Kohli has only faced five balls this morning.

Last night, I was with Ebony Rainford-Brent when a couple of India fans asked her for a picture. "I recognise you" one of them said to me when, clearly, there was no reason for him to have a clue who I was. I introduced myself as Russell Howard. He was surprised that the comedian was so into cricket and then asked me to pose for pics.
India need 77 to win
Hardik Pandya has made a strong start. He's looking to get forward and is finding the middle of his bat. It's fancy dress day at Edgbaston. There's a man in a giant panda costume. I wouldn't like to be sat behind him. I don't think you'd be able to see a lot.
England desperately needed an early wicket.
James Anderson delivered yet again...

I'm not sure about this tactic of conceding singles off the last to bowl at Pandya instead of Kohli. You've got to try and get both out and England don't have many runs to play with.
Target 194
Pandya is an attacking batsman who has made his name in limited-overs cricket but is being watchful to start. A few solid defensive strokes and then a nudge to get off the mark.
There's another one. England sent the leg-side fielder back on the final ball and Pandya takes the single on offer. He keeps the strike.
The crowd are singing the "Southgate you're the one" song. I'm not sure whose name they've replaced the England football manager with.
England have given Virat Kohli a single at the start of both of these overs. The India skipper has taken both opportunities without a moment's thought. Anderson now has five balls at Hardik Pandya.

This could still end in a tie. That would be the ultimate result for the neutrals.
Target 194
Virat Kohli scampers a single. Hardik Pandya is now facing to Broad.
The England seamer zips one past his edge. Broad stands with his hands on his head.
Three more dots follow.
