Mohammed Shami ends the session doing what he has done for most of the match - going past the outside edge. If you left him, he'd probably stand out there through the tea interval. As it is, England head for a brew with his game by the neck.

One more over? Not when Ravi Jadeja is getting through six balls in less than two minutes. Clever stuff, really. One less over for India to survive tonight. The England lead has gone past 400, mind.

As England were attempting to chase down 227 on the last day of the 2013 Ashes, my brother Mike went quiet and 'popped' to the toilet. Turned out he'd caught gastroenteritis. From me. He was the only non Aussie to welcome the bad light and hasn't forgiven me since.

England slightly becalmed before tea, ready to resume the attack afterwards. Shami still bowling beautifully, luckless when Stokes edges short of slip. One more over before the break...

England's batting just keeps coming, doesn't it? Sam Curran. Horrible thought: I hope Jos Buttler hasn't lost his biffery because of his 'proper' Test batting...

Jos Buttler has sacrificed his wicket in search of quick runs.

Slightly disappointing. I think we were all rather looking forward to the thought of Jos Buttler batting for 20 minutes. Instead, he spoons Ravi Jadeja to point.

It's another fine delivery from Mohammed Shami. He can't celebrate of course, given where India are in the game.

Bowled him! Mohammed Shami gets some belated rewards for bowling like a trooper all match. He's nipped one back and Jonny Bairstow has his stumps splayed again.

Get in there! Proof that Test cricket can be just as bad as the village green. Rishabh Pant lets one through the gloves and on to the helmet behind him. Five penalty runs. Virat Kohli moves the helmet a few yards further back, like it would have made a difference.

I was out in the crowd when Cook got out. There was a nanosecond of disbelief before everyone rose and applauded. It just went on and on and on. He walked off fairly quickly, he didn't want to milk it, but the crowd just kept on clapping.
