WICKET Denly (c sub b Salter) 26published at 16:08 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 173-3 (42.4 overs)

Did we speak too soon (see 4.05 entry)? Perhaps not, but there's a consolation wicket for Glamorgan spinner Andrew Salter as Joe Denly holes out at wide long-on.

  2. Hampshire reach tea unbeatenpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 389-9d v Hampshire 223 & 16-0 (12 overs)

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Hampshire have been set to score 469 to defeat Nottinghamshire after the home side declared their second innings closed on 389 for nine on the third afternoon.

In the 12 overs that were available before tea the visitors reached 16 without loss.

Either side of lunch, Ross Taylor and Samit Patel extended their fourth wicket stand to 96 before Liam Dawson gained his first wicket after bowling 20 overs in the innings; Patel swept the spinner out to deep square leg for 36.

Lewis McManus, the visitor’s wicketkeeper had to leave the field after sustaining a finger injury, with James Vince taking the gloves.

Taylor reached his 50 from only 46 balls and accelerated to 83, before playing on to Brad Wheal in his pursuit for more rapid runs.

Tom Moores helped himself to three sixes in a quickfire 34 before a sliced steepler was taken by the stand-in gloveman, off Fidel Edwards.

Stuart Broad (1) and Riki Wessels (14) were both dismissed by Chris Wood, before Edwards (3-60) took his seventh wicket of the match in bowling Luke Fletcher (9), prompting the declaration.

  3. Glamorgan facing defeatpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 173-2 (42 overs)

Job almost done for Kent, who require another 22 runs to complete victory over Glamorgan. Heino Kuhn is 59 not out after a boundary off Michael Hogan in the last over, thrashed through the covers from a semi-kneeling position, with Joe Denly unbeaten on 26.

  4. Abell top of the chartspublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 460-9 (134.2 overs)

  5. Clarke prevents hat-trickpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Surrey 434 v Worcestershire 350-5 (109 overs)

No hat-trick for Amar Virdi as Joe Clarke survives the first ball of a new over. The next delivery is short of a length and pounded away through extra cover for four. The Worcestershire batsman is now onto 88 not out.

  6. 200 runs

for Dane Vilaspublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 451-9 (132 overs)

What an innings from Dane Vilas.

He slog-sweeps and cuts successive fours off Jack Leach to move onto 203 not out.

Here are the numbers: 323 balls, 24 fours and two sixes. His knock overtakes Rory Burns' 193 for Surrey as the top-score this season in the County Championship.

  7. wicket

WICKET Head (b Virdi) 50published at 15:51 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Surrey 434 v Worcestershire 336-5 (106 overs)

Two in two balls for Surrey spinner Amar Virdi. Travis Head makes room to cut, but it's too close to him and he only succeeds in chopping onto his stumps, thereby ending his 80-run stand with Joe Clarke.

Next up, it's Ben Cox and he pays the price for staying on the back foot and he falls lbw. Ed Barnard is the new batsman, but Virdi will have to wait until his next over to try for a hat-trick.

  8. wicket

WICKET Anderson (c Davies b Abell) 0published at 15:51 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 443-9 (130.5 overs)

    You'll never guess what?

It's four wickets in 12 balls for the Somerset captain as Jimmy Anderson gets an edge to his first ball for wicket-keeper Steven Davies to take.

  9. wicket

WICKET Bailey (lbw b Abell) 2published at 15:48 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 443-8 (130.4 overs)

    And another!

Tom Abell's wicket-to-wicket style does the trick again as Tom Bailey is struck on the front pad by one that just shapes back in.

  10. Fun in the sun for Kentpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 154-2 (37 overs)

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

What's that saying? Sun's out, runs about?

Kent are finding this pretty easy as they chase down what looked a tricky 195, despite the favourable conditions.

Heino Kuhn has reached his 50 with seeming ease, twice cheekily reverse sweeping Andrew Salter in the final over before tea to get there.

They should wrap this up easily within the next hour or so.

  11. wicket

WICKET Mennie (b Abell) 1published at 15:46 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 437-7 (130.1 overs)

Tom Abell is magic. A seventh first-class wicket for the Somerset skipper, who took 2-15 against Yorkshire at Taunton last week too.

Joe Mennie is the victim in a near carbon-copy of Jordan Clark's dismissal.

  12. Tour match updatepublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

Rob Newton is 50 not out for Northants against Pakistan at Wantage Road, with the county side 124-4 in their second innings. Another 45 runs will see them clear the deficit after Asad Shafiq made an unbeaten 186 for the tourists.

  13. 50 runs

for Travis Headpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Surrey 434 v Worcestershire 334-3 (105 overs)

A few minutes ago Heino Kuhn completed a 49-ball fifty for Kent against Glamorgan. Worcestershire's Travis Head takes two more balls to do the same, reaching his 50 with a single off Amar Virdi. Joe Clarke is 76 not out at the other end and the Surrey lead will shortly be down below three figures.

  14. wicket

WICKET Clark (b Abell) 50published at 15:35 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 431-6 (127 overs)

He goes no further though, Somerset skipper Tom Abell sneaking a wicket in - just his sixth in first-class cricket.

Jordan Clark goes, not long before tea.

for Jordan Clarkpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 431-5 (126.4 overs)

    Jordan ClarkImage source, Getty Images

Lancashire continue to pile on the runs on a docile pitch at Old Trafford.

Jordan Clark continues his decent form with the bat, registering another half-century from 101 balls with eight fours. His partnership with Dane Vilas (190 not out) is now worth 102 runs.

  16. 50 runs

for Heino Kuhnpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 &153-2 (37 overs)

Audacious. Heino Kuhn produces two reverse sweeps in the same Andrew Salter over and both find the boundary. It's a 49-ball half-century for the South African, with 10 fours in total. It's also a half-century partnership with Joe Denly in seven-and-a-bit overs.

Kent need another 42 for victory - and that's tea.

  17. Kent close on victorypublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 &143-2 (36 overs)

Kent are not hanging about at Sophia Gardens. Heino Kuhn has raced to 41 not out off 44 balls, with eight fours and Joe Denly has 19, including a big six over long-on off Andrew Salter.

  18. Tough task for Surrey attackpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Surrey 434 v Worcestershire 312-3 (100 overs)

The follow-on having been saved, the job now for Worcestershire is to try and pick up an extra bonus point. They have three already in this innings and need another 38 in 10 overs for a fourth.

That should be straightforward with Joe Clarke (70no) and Travis Head (34), going along nicely and posting a half-century stand, but 78 in 10 for all five may be a tall order, flat though the pitch is.

  19. Hampshire begin their inningspublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 389-9d v Hampshire 223 & 0-0

So, Nottinghamshire need 10 wickets to win. It's Joe Weatherley and Jimmy Adams to open and Jake Ball and Stuart Broad will take the new ball.
