    Middlesex 230 & 251-5 (72.5 overs) v Sussex 323

    Danny Briggs is on fire!

  2. Kent chasing with aplombpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 115-2 (31.4 overs)

    Adam Whitty

There were a few nerves surrounding Kent's seemingly low chase of 195.

That is because Kent had not got past 174 this season in the County Championship, their bowlers bailing them out on too many occasions.

It's up to the rather photogenic South African Heino Kuhn to see Kent home.

Not to jinx it, but they have gone about this innings in a much more considered and professional way as the runs required total goes into single figures.

Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sean Dickson got things going with an elegant partnership of 77, before both fell quickly to create a few jitters in the Welsh capital.

It's now up to Heino Kuhn (28 not out) and captain Joe Denly (three not out) to see the visitors home. They should have it wrapped up today.

  3. wicket

WICKET Fletcher (b Edwards) 9published at 15:06 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 389-9d (85.3 overs) v Hampshire 223

Fidel Edwards comes around the wicket, but rather than going short he uses the double-bluff and bowls Luke Fletcher.

That's it for Notts, as skipper Steven Mullaney finally declares. Hampshire set a nominal 469 runs to win.

  4. 50 runs

for Aiden Markrampublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Leicestershire 440 v Durham 184 & 111-0 (35.3 overs)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

This is like watching a different team and having gone through the trauma of three straight ducks at the start of his Durham career, South African Aiden Markram is now showing why he was signed too.

He's reached his first championship 50. It came in 75 balls and included nine fours. He now has 65. But despite adding 100 runs with Cameron Steel (36 not out) for the opening stand, they are still a long way from saving this game.

But this is also a test of what Leicestershire are made of. They have not been in such a strong position since 2010, the last time they had a side follow-on. They have not won for 17 matches either.

Wickets change matches. We all know that and I would far rather be in The Foxes' position than Durham's right now.

But as I have said before the only way you are going to get time in the middle is by spending time in the middle and these warm and sunny conditions are perfect for batting in.

  5. wicket

WICKET Dickson (lbw de Lange) 39published at 15:02 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 104-2 (30 overs)

Both Kent openers are now gone as a straight one by Marchant de Lange leaves the umpire with a simple decision to send Sean Dickson on his way. Kent skipper Joe Denly is the new man and takes two from the second ball he faces. The visitors need another 91 for victory.

  6. wicket

WICKET Gubbins (c Salt b Briggs) 107published at 15:00 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Middlesex 230 & 243-3 (70 overs) v Sussex 323

    Sussex finally have a breakthrough.

Nick Gubbins falls caught at short leg off left-arm spinner Danny Briggs to end a mammoth 234-run stand with Dawid Malan.

  7. 'If you believe, you can achieve anything'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

Yorkshire (19 pts) beat Essex (3 pts) by 91 runs

Seamer Steve Patterson hailed the "fantastic talent" in the Yorkshire dressing room following their victory over Essex earlier today.

He produced career-best figures of 6-40 to help bowl out the home side for 146 - with the White Rose county coming out on top despite being all out for 50 on day one.

"It was a really difficult first day for us. The first session was probably the worst session of cricket I've ever been involved in. But the belief we showed from that moment on, for the rest of the game, was pretty impressive. A lot of people stood up at tough times and made important contributions," said Patterson.

"It's hard to win four-day games no matter who it's against, but we've got some fantastic talent in the dressing room. We know if we truly believe and stick together you can achieve anything in the game."

  8. wicket

WICKET Wessels (c Weatherley b Wood) 14published at 14:54 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 379-8 (83 overs) v Hampshire 223

    Another Nottinghamshire batsman goes.

Riki Wessels is out for the second time in this game hooking. Joe Weatherley claims a catch on the legside off Chris Wood.

Notts still bat on. Jake Ball is coming out.

  9. Century stand by Durham pairpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Leicestershire 440 v Durham 184 & 100-0 (31.4 overs)

Aiden Markram and Cameron Steel post a century opening stand as the former picks up two runs to backward square off Callum Parkinson. There doesn't seem to be a lot of turn on offer for the slow left-armer, who has gone for 25 from his first five overs.

  10. wicket

WICKET Broad (c Wheal b Wood) 1published at 14:50 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 377-7 (82.2 overs) v Hampshire 223

That's a strange way to go.

Stuart Broad chips Chris Wood straight out to the boundary rider on the offside, Brad Wheal, who takes a catch.

When are Nottinghamshire going to declare? They lead by 456 runs.

  11. Kuhn wasting no timepublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 95-1 (27 overs)

Heino Kuhn announced his arrival at the crease for Kent with two cracking shots through the off-side off the back foot, both of which brought him boundaries. Now he and Sean Dickson (37no) have brought the target down to exactly 100. Tim van der Gugten is still plugging away for Glamorgan, who now have spinner Andrew Salter operating at the other end.

  12. 100 runs

for Nick Gubbinspublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Middlesex 230 & 235-2 (67 overs) v Sussex 323

Another hundred for an England-qualified player.

Nick Gubbins is a man on the radar for selection after two centuries in the pre-season North v South series, and having shaken off an injury he's back in the runs.

He hits Luke Wells for a boundary to move onto 102 not out from 198 balls, with 12 fours and one six.

  13. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

Good news at last for new national selector Ed Smith - an England batsman scores a century. Here's the moment Dawid Malan reached three figures for Middlesex at Hove.

  14. wicket

WICKET Moores (c Vince b Edwards) 34published at 14:43 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 371-6 (81.2 overs)

Tom Moores goes for an ambitious shot off Fidel Edwards and loops the ball up in the air for stand-in keeper James Vince to take.

A quick 34 off 22 balls for the Notts keeper as Stuart Broad comes in.

  15. dropped catch

Dropped catch at Old Traffordpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 384-5 (114.5 overs)

Oh dear. Lewis Gregory gives Dane Vilas a life, shelling a catch at gully off Paul van Meekeren.

  16. 6 runs

Moores going bigpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 370-5 (81 overs) v Hampshire 223

Tom Moores is teeing off at Trent Bridge. Liam Dawson is swotted for a four and two sixes over cow corner in an over.

    Hampshire are being run ragged.

  17. 50 runs

for Aiden Markrampublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Leicestershire 440 v Durham 184 & 85-0 (28 overs)

After three ducks for Durham, Aiden Markram puts away a full toss from Callum Parkinson and then adds a single from the next delivery to reach a 75-ball fifty. The home side are still 171 away from clearing the deficit, but Markram is showing the crowd why he already has 1,000 Test runs to his credit.

  18. Gubbins & Malan bat onpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Middlesex 230 & 217-2 (64 overs) v Sussex 323

Nick Gubbins (89 not out) and Dawid Malan (110 not out) are still going. Middlesex were in a precarious position this morning, but their two premier batsmen are looking superb in the Hove sunshine.

Their partnership is worth 208 runs now, with the away side's lead on 124 runs.

  19. 50 runs

for Joe Clarkepublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Surrey 434 v Worcestershire 266-3 (89 overs)

A single off Sam Curran and it's a 118-ball fifty for Joe Clarke. He's doing an excellent job for his side, but they are still 168 behind.

  20. wicket

WICKET Bell-Drummond (lbw van der Gugten) 36published at 14:29 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 & 274 v Kent 174 & 77-1 (22 overs)

No doubt about that one. Daniel Bell-Drummond is fractionally late as he pushes forward the umpire upholds Timm van der Gugten's confident appeal. Kent need another 118 for victory as Heino Kuhn comes to the crease.
