  1. SA 138-3published at 35 overs

    Ecclestone 10-0-32-0

Sophie Ecclestone finishes her spell as the SA batsmen take a single apiece.

Incidentally, England were 98-8 at this stage.

...and here's Shrubsole's slower ball to dismiss Van Niekerk

  3. WATCH: Lizelle Lee claims 16th ODI half-century with fourpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

After all that kerfuffle, there are some highlights to catch up with. Here's Lizelle Lee's 50...

  4. SA 137-3published at 35 overs

A single rounds off the over as Shrubsole takes her cap.

  5. SA 136-3published at 33.4 overs

And an adjustment in the score - having been 135-4, they crossed on that "catch" and so the score is now 136-3.

  6. Not outpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

Ooh - the replay suggests that the ball may have bounced out of Brunt's fingers as she takes the catch in front of her.

But has Lee already crossed the line and therefore ended her innings?

Obviously not - as "not out" is signalled and Lee resumes her innings. And having theoretically begun her innings, Marizanne Kapp has to go off.

  7. Third umpirepublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

Hang on - it looks as though Lizelle Lee is being signalled to stay on the pitch while the umpires check the catch. There's plenty of arm-waving from the SA balcony. But has Lee already crossed the line? Marizanne Kapp is already on the field, so there are three SA batters on the field.

WICKET (or is it?)published at 33.4 overs

    Lee c Brunt b Shrubsole 68 (SA 135-4)

Gone! England's gamble keeping Shrubsole going for her ninth over pays off as Lee attempts another big hit over the bowler's head - and is spectacularly caught by Katherine Brunt diving at long-off!

    Or is she?

South Africa's intent has made it look an easier pitch to bat on, but I think it's because England went into their shell and didn't manoeuvre the ball around. South Africa's third seamer Khaka got some swing, but England haven't had it after Brunt and Shrubsole.

  10. SA 135-3published at 33 overs

    Target 190

The sun is still shining on New Road - and particularly on South Africa - as Du Preez nudges Ecclestone for a single to fine leg. Lee gets down on one knee to flog the ball through the on side, but the sweeper cuts it off. 55 needed from 102 deliveries.

  11. SA 133-3published at 32 overs

    Shrubsole 8-0-29-2

Shrubsole to continue for her eighth over. Lizelle Lee, with 67 on the back of her shirt, moves to 67 with a single. Mignon du Preez is finally off the mark when she guides her 13th ball to third man for a single.

  12. 6 runs

    SA 131-3published at 31 overs

    Target 190

There's no cakes to tuck into out on the pitch, but Lee tucks into Ecclestone's bowling, launching her for a straight six that easily clears the rope. A more delicate chop to short third man brings her a single. Du Preez, by contrast, is yet to score from nine deliveries.

With 59 needed from 114 balls, it's fair to say South Africa are favourites.

  13. SA 124-3published at 30 overs

    Lee 59, Du Preez 0

Lee goes over the top, launching Shrubsole over extra cover for a first-bounce four. Lydia Greenway on TMS has pegged that as the shot of the day.

And normal service has been resumed on TMS - the commentators have just been given a plate of cakes. "I've never eaten so much cake in my life as when I work on the BBC," says Natalie Germanos. "I won't be fitting into my clothes at the end of this tour."

  14. WATCH: SA captain Van Niekerk moves past 50published at 16:39 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

Here's how Dane van Niekerk passed 50...

  15. SA 119-3published at 29 overs

71 to win from 126 balls

Having made that breakthrough, England keep their last two overs of Brunt up their sleeve, and turn back to spinner Sophie Ecclestone - it's been exclusively Brunt and Ecclestone from the Diglis End in this innings. Lee helps herself to a single, she's got a good record in England and will want to see this through.

One can sometimes bring two. Mignon du Preez is a busy player, always wanting to push the score along. England have a glimpse of hope.

  17. SA 118-3published at 28 overs

Current captain Dane van Niekerk is replaced by former captain Mignon du Preez.

    WICKETpublished at 27.5 overs

    Van Niekerk b Shrubsole 58 (SA 118-3)

Van Niekerk blasts Shrubsole over mid-on for four - but the England captain hits back with a slower ball through the Proteas skipper's defences which rearranges her furniture.

    Do England have a glimmer?

  19. 50 runs

50 for Lizelle Leepublished at 27 overs

    SA 114-2

This is Brunt's eighth over, can England's pace spearhead make a much-needed breakthrough? Van Niekerk looks content to see Brunt off, and her partner Lee now has the chance to raise her bat for her 16th ODI fifty - achieved from 79 balls.

And I've just noticed Van Niekerk appears to be wearing a watch while batting. Now that's brave...

  20. SA 109-2published at 26 overs

    Lee 49, Van Niekerk 53

As Charlotte suggested, England's new-ball bowlers are back in tandem as Anya Shrubsole replaces Marsh at the New Road End. Van Niekerk cuts but it's cut off by Tammy Beaumont scampering round the cover boundary.
