England have been really poor, they have struggled to execute their skills against the turning ball. Credit to New Zealand. They have bowled wicket to wicket, which is what was needed. England are making a mess of this.

  2. 216-9published at 47 overs

Kate Cross is the daughter of footballer David Cross, FA Cup winner in 1980 with a decent West Ham side, which makes me feel old as I can remember watching him!

Cross Jr does well to winkle out a couple of singles, but this has been quite a collapse - England were 156-2 at one stage.

  3. 213-9published at 46 overs

Kate Cross is now at the crease but there's some great work from Katey Martin, who whips the bails off as Laura Marsh just gets her foot back in the crease.

  4. wicket

    Ecclestone lbw b Kasperek 1 (Eng 211-9)

Sophie Ecclestone waves the bat halfheartedly, misses, the ball hits the front pad and the umpire's finger is raised almost straight away.

Pace off the ball has been effective. Because it's such a big ground, England haven't been able to generate any power to find the boundary.

  6. 211-8published at 45 overs

It's a case of get what you can now, as Sophie Ecclestone and Laura Marsh try to undo some of the damage. New Zealand have fought back very, very well here after going around the park early on.

Hayley Jensen is done, 2-26 off her 10 overs - impressive stuff.

  7. wicket

    Wyatt c Devine b Watkin 18 (Eng 207-8)

Uh-oh. Danni Wyatt drops to one knee and slaps the ball powerfully towards midwicket, but Sophie Devine takes a stinging catch to remove the exasperated-looking England batter.

Danni Wyatt is a relaxed player out in the middle. She's such a natural player who relies on her instincts, she doesn't talk about cricket too much.

  9. 203-7published at 43 overs

Laura Marsh joins Danni Wyatt, who's hardly had the strike of late. There's a bit of yes-no-yes-no at the end of the over, with Wyatt retaining the strike, but England need her on strike more to get up towards a decent total.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.2 overs

    Elwiss c Green b Jensen 11 (Eng 201-7)

The wheels have come off the wagon a bit here. A pick-up shot from Georgia Elwiss flies into the deep, but straight at Maddy Green, who gets her hands round the ball with a little bit of a fumble.

  11. Watch again: Brunt caught by Batespublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 13 July 2018

The New Zealand skipper takes a brilliant catch to get rid of Katherine Brunt.

England are not going anywhere at the moment. At some point, they'll need to get a charge on.

  13. 201-6published at 42 overs

    Elwiss 11 Wyatt 17

Georgia Elwiss is getting on with it, clipping Leigh Kasperek high over the top of mid on for her first boundary before taking three after a misfield in the deep. She's into double figures in the blink of an eye, and England are past 200 as well.

  14. 192-6published at 41 overs

Georgia Elwiss is at the crease, and she's off the mark but it's a decent over from Hayley Jensen as New Zealand apply the brakes to England's innings.

Thankfully it's not quite as searingly hot in Leicester as it has been of late - I actually saw rain at home this morning - but it's still a lovely warm afternoon, perfect for cricket.

  15. Sciver run outpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 13 July 2018

Nat Sciver was run out off a deflection - one of the cruelest of dismissals.

That's a great catch - they're the hardest ones when the ball is dipping and you have to commit yourself to a dive.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 39.2 overs

    Brunt c Bates b Kasperek 5 (Eng 188-6)

    What a catch!

Katherine Brunt scoops Leigh Kasperek's gentle off spin out into the offside, where Suzie Bates makes ground quickly in the covers, dives forward and takes the ball just above the deck.

Brunt has a thunderous expression on her face as she trudges off, and New Zealand sense a chance to restrict England to a get-able total.

  18. 188-5published at 39 overs

I know I've said it earlier, but Amelia Kerr's leggies are great to watch - high, looping, classical. But Danni Wyatt has already got her eyes on acceleration and picks the ball up over midwicket for a very welcome four, half of eight from the over.

    That's Kerr done - 10-0-46-0.

  19. 180-5published at 38 overs

Brunt and Wyatt pick off a few more singles, but Katherine Brunt looks like she wants to tee off very soon. An ugly heave outside off stump only manages to roll back to bowler Leigh Kasperek off the last ball of the over.
