  1. 177-5published at 37 overs

Katherine Brunt is at the wicket, reading Amelia Kerr's leg-spin to nick a couple of singles.

There's been a slowing down in the momentum, you get the sense England may just keep their powder dry before going on the attack later on.

That is really frustrating for England. Nat Sciver is the one player who can accelerate an innings at whatever speed England needed or wanted.

Sciver run out 11 (Eng 171-5)

The worst way to be dismissed? Danni Wyatt slams Leight Kasperek's delivery straight back down the track, but the bowler gets her fingertips to it and the ball smashes into the stumps as umpire Tim Robinson sidesteps out of the way.

Nat Sciver tries to make her ground, and though replays show she nearly makes it, she's short and has to go.

  4. 170-4published at 35 overs

Nat Sciver swats the ball off her pads down to the boundary, under a brave dive on the rope from Bernadine Bezuidenhout. No sign of the 'Nat-meg' yet, but we live in hope, and then clumsy stuff in the field as an overthrow allows England to get two where only one should have been added.

Nat Sciver and Danni Wyatt are the two most exciting batters to watch, which is a worry for New Zealand heading into the powerplay.

Here's how Amy Jones fell on her sword after a fine 78.

  7. Eng 163-4published at 34 overs

New Zealand's tails are up now, and Amelia Kerr's leggies have Nat Sciver and new batter Danni Wyatt scratching around at times. It's a good spell for the Kiwis, their best for some time but England are still firmly in control with two big hitters at the crease.

England will want to be aggressive now but that was a heave across the line from Heather. This is starting to become similar to the other day when England lost wickets. They need to take good options on a slow wicket. A good option here would be to hit straight, not play square.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 33 overs

    Knight b Jensen 16 (Eng 160-4)

Gone! The England captain aims a big heave over midwicket at Hayley Jensen's slower ball, but misses it completely and has her middle stumps rattled.

Clever bowling, not so clever batting.

A lot of credit to Amy Jones for that innings. Playing slow bowling is not her strength but she's been playing in Australia over the winter and has had a good summer too. She is highly thought of around the world.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 31.5 overs

Jones st Martin b Watkin 78 (Eng 156-3)

It's all over for Amy Jones as she dances down the wicket for a big heave at Jess Watkin, but she misses out and Katey Martin takes the bails off. Jones nearly made her ground but it was a neat dismissal from the New Zealand keeper.

An excellent knock, but that brings Nat Sciver to the crease. Will England look to accelerate a touch now?

  13. 152-2published at 31 overs

Amelia Kerr's leg spin is a joy to watch - nice, looping deliveries, but Jones and Knight are enjoying them too as they safely eke four more runs from Kerr's latest over.

England are in such a dominant position - I think they can get another 160 from here, perhaps, and get close to 300.

  15. 148-2published at 30 overs

Just the one over for Sophie Devine - Jess Watkin's back with her off-breaks. Amy Jones immediately unveils the reverse sweep a couple of times, but an on-drive towards midwicket brings no reward because Devine dives to her left to make an excellent one-handed stop.

  16. 144-2published at 29 overs

    Jones 71 Knight 10

Double change for the Kiwis - the leg-spin of Amelia Kerr is back in place of Leigh Kasperek's off-spin. A throw from the deep is fumbled by the stumps by Kerr - a clean take, or a direct hit, would have seen Heather Knight short of her ground but the chance goes and England grind on.

  18. 138-2published at 28 overs

Sophie Devine returns to the attack, but they're all coming alike to Amy Jones at the moment - she greets Devine with an inside-out shot over the top of cover for four off the second delivery.

  19. 132-2published at 27 overs

Leigh Kasperek has given England's batters a bit to think about since coming on, but she can't stem the flow of runs - five are nurdled off her fourth over without any alarms.

Good reactions from Jones to swivel round and get the bat back in. Charlotte Edwards called it right - that's why she captained her country and I didn't.
