The required rate is now just above nine-an-over.

While Kent do have undoubted firepower in their middle-order, is this going to prove to stiff a task for them to chase down?

Daniel Bell-Drummond is the set batsman, but his innings has hovered around a run-a-ball throughout.

Someone with the X Factor and ability to clear the ropes frequently needs to push this game back in Kent's favour.

  2. Kent 165-3 (Target: 331)published at 32 overs

Kent's run rate is suffering a bit. Just two runs are scored off this over. Sam Billings comes running down the track for the final ball of Mason Crane's over but he doesn't really connect with it and is perhaps a little lucky not to have edged the delivery on to his own stumps.

  3. Kent 163-3 (Target: 331)published at 31 overs

    Bell-Drummond, Billings 5

Kent's Sam Billings gets off the mark against Dale Steyn, after three dot balls initially.

Steyn's spell has been pretty economical, so far.

Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I feel that Sean Dickson got a little bit greedy there, clearly he wanted to attack Mason Crane but equally you've still got to play some of the balls on merit and he was just trying to force it.

    The game is nicely poised.

  5. Nothing quite like home for Billingspublished at 30 overs

    Kent 158-3

Sam Billings is out in the middle now. The Kent captain has been around England's limited-overs teams for the past couple of years and has tested himself in domestic T20 competitions all over the world, winning the Indian Premier League with Chennai Super Kings in May.

The 27-year-old told BBC Radio Kent: "For all of the teams I've played for, you get a huge buzz and a different buzz for each team, but nothing beats coming home and playing for your home side. It does mean a hell of a lot.

"It would be great to take Kent to where we should really be - competing for and winning silverware."

  6. wicket

WICKET Dickson (c Rossouw b Crane) 30published at 29.5 overs

    Kent 158-3 (Target: 331)

Mason Crane gets a wicket and oh boy do Hampshire like that. Moments earlier, Sean Dickson struck a full toss away for four runs.

But three deliveries later, he makes a hash of things and swipes one up in the air for Rilee Rossouw to take a simple catch. Crane (1-35) is a relieved man.

  7. Kent 152-2 (Target: 331)published at 29 overs

Dale Steyn comes back on to bowl for Hampshire, as Kent pass 150 with three runs taken from the 29th over.

A further 179 runs are needed by Kent, with 21 overs remaining.

  8. Kent 149-2 (Target: 331)published at 28 overs

That's more like it! Sean Dickson lifts a beauty away for six.

And a photographer makes a fine catch after the first bounce, too. Fair play sir!

Just two balls later, Daniel Bell-Drummond finds another boundary. 12 from the over. They needed that.

  9. Kent 137-2 (Target: 331)published at 27 overs

    Bell-Drummond 73, Dickson 15

Plenty of singles are being found by this Kent pair. At some point though, they're going to need to get a move on.

There's been some tidy fielding too. The chase is a bit flat for the time being though.

  10. Kent 133-2 (Target: 331)published at 26 overs

Cheers, Mr Mitchell. Hello everyone! Well, this is all building rather well towards a crescendo, isn't it?

Daniel Bell-Drummond moves past 70. Can he reach a century? Kent add six off the 26th over.

And that's my cue to hand you back over to Tom Garry to talk you through the closing stages. Enjoy!

  12. Kent 127-2 (Target: 331)published at 25 overs

    Bell-Drummond 66, Dickson 12

Liam Dawson is so close to another breakthrough, squeezing through Sean Dickson's gate but it somehow misses off stump. Unlucky.

Kent are 127-2 at the midway point of their innings.

  13. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 24 overs

    Kent 122-2 (Target: 331)

James Vince decides to remove Mason Crane from the attack and bring his own trundling medium pace to the party.

It almost brings a wicket too as Daniel Bell-Drummond gives Rilee Rossouw half an opportunity diving to his left at backward point but the centurion can't cling on.

Nonetheless, only three come from the over.

  14. Kent 119-2 (Target: 331)published at 23 overs

There's no doubting which of the two Hampshire spinners is offering the greater threat - another tight Liam Dawson over recovers some of the damage done during Mason Crane's set of six.

Dawson has 0-14 off four and Crane has 0-29 off three, which tells you all you need to know.

  15. Kent 117-2 (Target: 331)published at 22 overs

Two more Daniel Bell-Drummond boundaries follow in the over as Mason Crane is still struggling to land it exactly as he hopes.

Fourteen runs come from the over and this is likely to be the key partnership for Kent.

  16. 50 runs

    50 for Bell-Drummondpublished at 21.1 overs

    Kent 107-2 (Target: 331)

But Daniel Bell-Drummond continues to shine and after six dots is able to swat away the first ball of Mason Crane's over to reach his half-century.

  17. Kent 103-2 (Target: 331)published at 21 overs

That's excellent from Liam Dawson, producing a maiden over at this crucial point in the contest.

Hampshire are in the box seat, that's for sure.

  18. Kent 103-2 (Target: 331)published at 20 overs

    Bell-Drummond 48, Dickson 5

The 100 is up for Kent, as Mason Crane's second over is a vast improvement on his first - albeit he's lucky to survive further punishment from Daniel Bell-Drummond when he drags one a bit short.

At what point do Kent stop sticking and start twisting?

  19. 'Kent need to find momentum'published at 16:30 British Summer Time 30 June 2018

    Fabian Cowdrey
Ex-Kent all-rounder on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Kent have to try something to switch the momentum again - it's a long way back from here.

They have to find something special to keep that run rate up.

  20. Kent 97-2 (Target: 331)published at 19 overs

It'll be spin from both ends now, as Liam Dawson resumes to bowl in tandem with his England team-mate.

After that over, from which just five runs came, Kent are 97-2 - with Hampshire having been 112-0 at the same stage in their innings.
