  1. wicket

WICKET Cox lbw Brooks 9published at 15:09 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Worcestershire 172-5 v Yorkshire

Another wicket goes down at New Road.

Just one more for Yorkshire to guarantee safety as Ben Cox is leg before wicket to Jack Brooks.

Playing across the line to The Headband Warrior is never a good plan.

  2. Bears being badly held uppublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 167-9 v Warwickshire

Kent's last-wicket stand is now the highest of their innings, having reached 41.

Matt Henry has hit two sixes off home captain Jeetan Patel, as well as a four in his 32.

    Six overs until tea.

  3. wicket

WICKET Berg c Jones b Bailey 21published at 15:02 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Hampshire 163-9 v Lancashire

Full bowling bonus points for Lancashire as Thompson Twin namesake Tom Bailey has Gareth Berg caught in the slips.

Bailey has 3-42 as last man Fidel Edwards walks to the middle.

From Martyn Keates AND Dom Mathias: "Craig They Think It's All Overton"

From Mark D'cruz: "Michael Di Finito"

    Love that one!

    From Rick Kirby: "Shane Warneout"

    From Ollie Slack: "James Enderson"

    Keep them coming.

  5. Are Kent eyeing a batting point?published at 14:56 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 153-9 v Warwickshire

After being reduced to 125-9, Kent last pair Matt Henry and Adam Riley have now put on 28 - the second highest stand of the innings.

The runs are coming freely now at Edgbaston as they go for their shots.

Surely they couldn't claim a batting bonus point?

  6. Essex move aheadpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Surrey 67 v Essex 70-1

Essex take the lead at The Oval with two runs for Murali Vijay off Ryan Patel.

Yes, it's true everyone - the game is only 46 overs old, but the new county champions have already been bowled out and overtaken by the team that lifted the trophy 12 months ago.

  7. Batting point for Somersetpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Somerset 201-3 v Nottinghamshire

Somerset's first batting point arrives with a James Hildreth boundary off Luke Wood, taking him to 75 not out. It's the right-hander's 12th so far, and he also has a six off Matt Carter to his credit.

Tom Abell has 21 at the other end and they have added 56 in 15 overs.

  8. wicket

    WICKET Milton c Kohler-Cadmore b Coad 1published at 14:48 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Worcestershire 154-4 v Yorkshire

Alex Milton is fourth man out at New Road as Ben Coad picks up his first wicket - a second catch for Worcestershire old boy Tom Kohler-Cadmore, well taken low down to his left at slip.

Yorkshire are now only two wickets away from all but sending Lancashire down.

A second bowling bonus point would be enough to ensure the Tykes' survival.

  9. Last pair still therepublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 135-9 v Warwickshire

Kent's last pair Matt Henry and Adam Riley have so far survived for six overs - and have eked out another 10 runs.

  10. wicket

WICKET Northeast b Bailey 42published at 14:42 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Hampshire 152-8 v Lancashire

After finding the boundary from the previous delivery, Sam Northeast falls lbw to pace bowler Tom Bailey.

Lancashire only need one more wicket for maximum bowling points - but still have to find a way to make 400+ in their first innings to keep those relegation escape hopes alive.

Bailey is now the leading wicket-taker in Division One, moving past team-mate Graham Onions, who is not playing in this game. But Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer of Essex, and Surrey's Morne Morkel, could still deny him the honour at season's end.

  11. Division Two updatepublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

After losing Ricardo Vasconcelos for a duck, Northants have recovered to 50-1 in the 11th over after bowling out Sussex for 118 at Wantage Road.

Durham are also in a good position on 52-2 in reply to Middlesex's 121 all out at the Riverside, although Alex Lees has recently been trapped lbw for 25 by Tim Murtagh.

Chris Cooke and Craig Meschede have posted an unbroken half-century stand for Glamorgan against Leicestershire, with the Welsh club 199-5 after 48 overs.

Paceman Craig Miles now has four wickets in his final game for Gloucestershire, who have reduced Derbyshire to 170-7 in the 49th over.

  12. wicket

WICKET Clarke b Brooks 8published at 14:37 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Worcestershire 149-3 v Yorkshire

Yorkshire's first bowling bonus point as Jack Brooks strikes on his return to the attack.

Safety almost assured as Joe Clarke drives airily and is bowled.

Awful shot. Not the sort of stroke that would thrill them at Nottingham next season.

  13. Essex close on Surrey totalpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Surrey 67 v Essex 54-1

Whatever was in the wicket during the Surrey innings isn't there now as Essex are breezing along at The Oval against the new county champions.

Tom Westley played an exquisite cover drive for four in Morne Morkel's most recent over and he is 25 not out, with partner Murali Vijay on 26.

It's the sort of scoreline that makes you rub your eyes in disbelief.

  14. Run rate slows at New Roadpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Worcestershire 144-2 v Yorkshire

The run rate has noticeably slowed almost to a halt at Worcester.

Just 13 runs in 11 overs since Moeen Ali got out.

But then nobody else has attempted to pull a rising ball outside off stump - as Moeen rather ambitiously did.

  15. Northeast holds up Lancashirepublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Hampshire 141-7 v Lancashire

It's certainly not been the summer Sam Northeast was hoping for after his move from Kent to Hampshire, but he's doing his bit for his side today as they try to build a recovery against Lancashire.

Northeast has only managed a single boundary so far, but his 36 not out is the highest score of the innings and he has added 30 with Gareth Berg since the loss of Ian Holland and Lewis McManus in the same Richard Gleeson over.

  16. wicket

WICKET Podmore b Barker 9published at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 125-9 v Warwickshire

Now a third wicket for Keith Barker too.

Barker goes round the wicket and clean bowls Harry Podmore for 9.

He looks round to see his leg stump has been removed. And Warwickshire now have three bowling bonus points.

  17. 50 runs

for James Hildrethpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

James Hildreth nudges the ball past slip for four runs off Matt Carter to reach an 81-ball fifty - and pass 1,000 Championship runs for the season.

It's the seventh time the Somerset batsman has 'done the 1,000' and he also 43 hundreds to his credit - a number England selectors seem to find great difficulty in reading when considering players for Test call-ups.

As this is the final round of Championship games this summer, we are looking for you to suggest some players, past or present, for an Endings XI. Steven Finnale would be one possibility, or maybe Graeme Swannsong. Anyway, thinking caps on. The funnier the better.

  19. wicket

WICKET Stewart c Ambrose b Wright 9published at 14:11 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 121-8 v Warwickshire

Grant Stewart reaches uncertainly for a slightly wide one and nicks to Tim Ambrose. A second catch for the Bears wicketkeeper. A third wicket for Chris Wright.

Warwickshire are well on top here in the Division Two title decider.

  20. Westley finds the boundarypublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Surrey 67 v Essex 28-1

Tom Westley has been in fine form of late with scores of 110 not out and 55 in his last two Championship innings and he goes up on his toes to punch a ball from Rikki Clarke away through the covers for four off the back foot. It's the second boundary of his innings and takes him into double figures.

Despite the loss of Nick Browne, Essex will be reasonably content with the start they have made.
